Title: BodyTalk your Brain

http://www.bodytalkspace.com BodyTalk is a healthcare system that works with to harmonize the body on all levels. The premise is that the body is designed to heal itself, which is does through communication. BodyTalk works to improve the communication systems within the body so that it can be more efficient and heal itself more effectively. Balancing the cortices is one of the most important techniques in BodyTalk. It works to balance the brain, which is involved in everything we do! Everything in the body is reflected in the brain, therefor by balancing the cortices we are bringing attention to brain, and helping to improve it's function and subsequently the health of the entire body. One of the other very important things about balancing the cortices is that it helps to shift the body and mind out of 'fight or flight' (sympathetic) and into 'growth and healing' (parasympathetic). We often get stuck in flight or flight which causes great stress to the body, and breaks sown those communication pathways in the body. It's like too many plugs are plugged in and our circuits 'blow'. This causes us to get stuck in a stressful state, and from this place, everything is more difficult- including healing. Balancing the cortices also balanced the right/left brain which is fundamental for a healthy body and mind. The right brain is the more intuitive side, imagination and it can work holistically- looking at the big picture. It is responsible for our creativity and and artistic abilities. The left brain is responsible for our reasoning, logic and thought. It looks at the details and works in a linear way therefor it is slower. It is our knowledge and our learned behaviors. Most people spend most of their time in their left brain, with periods in the right brain. Usually it is inconsistent and we will flip flop between the two or spend most time in just the left brian. What we would like is to have both sides of the brain working together to provide us with the ability to connect to the big pictures whilst knowing the details, have logic AND intuition, be able to be aware of where we're going at the same time as knowing the steps to take.... Balancing the cortices daily starts to bring the body and brain back to a state of health where we can naturally move between different events without getting stuck in fight or flight and start to live using our whole brain. I highly recommend balancing your cortices in the morning when you wake up, before you go to sleep, and if you have any kind of shock or trauma. If you have an accident, a headache, cut yourself, are stressed out, receive some bad news... tap out your cortices and watch how you relax and return to a place where the body can start healing. Get out of shock, and start healing! Try it, and let me know how you get on! Laura Hames Franklin, laurahames@me.com http://www.bodytalkspace.com "The rational mind is a faithful servant, and the intuitive mind in a sacred gift. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift." Albert Einstein.

Moving into the dorms!

por | | 0 comments

Okay, so I'm moving tomorrow afternoon into my dorm at my university. I'm getting homesick already. I'm going to miss all my parents' lovely homemade Chinese food. I'll miss being around all the easily accessible Asian beauty products and whatnot. I'm going to miss my bed, my room, my house! Alright, I'm over-reacting a little..or a lot. I'm coming home every two weeks or so anyways so it's really not that bad. If I had decided to go to New York for design school, now that would of been worse.

Anyhow, I'm a bit nervous, scared, excited etc. Not sure what to expect, but yes! I am finally beginning a new phase of my life. I still have some things to pack so that's all I have to say for now. I'll see how tomorrow goes and report back on it.

Title: Super Hurricanes

Why some tropical storms erupt into monster hurricanes capable of wrecking coastlines. Can they be predicted? September 12th, 2008. A hurricane named Ike is headed toward the beaches of Galveston Island in Texas. The eye of the storm, where the most intense winds are, is still hundreds of miles away... Yet the rising water has already spread over much of the island. Eight days back, researchers had flown into Ike and measured its winds... at 145 miles per hour. That made it a category 4 out of 5 on the Saffir-Simpson scale. Moving into the western Atlantic, Ike fed on a deep layer of warm ocean water, sweeping it up and growing to deadly intensity. Over a million people were evacuated from coastlines in Cuba as the storm approached. Ike weakened as it passed over the island. But as it entered the Gulf of Mexico by late September 10th, now on a beeline for Texas, it had begun to re-intensify. Residents of Galveston were ordered to evacuate. Most of the 58,000 residents did. Thousands remained to brave the storm.... Despite the memory of another storm... over a century ago... that showed how vulnerable this low-lying island can be. September 6th, 1900... powerful waves began lashing the coastlines of Louisiana and Mississippi. With swells rising in Galveston, on the 7th, a hurricane warning was put into effect. That afternoon, a ship sailing from New Orleans encountered the storm. The captain estimated winds at 100 miles per hour. But at this point, little was known about the storm... where it would hit... and how bad it would be. By 5:00 PM, hurricane force winds began to pound the beaches of Galveston. By the time the hurricane came ashore that evening, its winds had risen to 135 miles per hour... a category four by today's standards. Around 8,000 lives were lost... in what remains to this day the deadliest natural disaster in American history. The city of Galveston was reduced to rubble by wind driven waves and tides, called storm surge, over 15 feet high. The island had endured numerous storms since it was founded in 1838. What made this one so powerful? Hurricanes, also called cyclones or typhoons, are tropical storms that feed on solar heat captured by the oceans. When conditions are right, a hurricane can release this energy in a fury... Of wind and rain.... A rare few, like the one that hit Galveston, go beyond the norm, to marshal the extreme power of the seas... and leave in their wake a legacy of devastation, death, and despair. One of the deadliest ever hit what's now Bangladesh in 1970. Moving ashore in a densely populated river delta, it claimed as many as 500,000 lives. In 1969, weather satellites launched earlier in the decade showed hurricane Camille bearing down on the Mississippi coast. The storm intensified suddenly... with category five winds of around 200 miles per hour, and a storm surge that reached 24 feet high. Camille wrecked the coastline and drowned 143. Inevitably, the storm carried huge volumes of moisture as it traveled inland. The result, when Camille hit the mountains in Virginia, was devastating floods that killed another 113. Then there was Andrew in 1992, in an otherwise slow hurricane season. Just two days after reaching hurricane status, Andrew took a turn into the warm waters of the Gulf Stream... then accelerated into the Florida coastline with winds measured at 155 miles per hour. It caused at least 26.5 billion dollars in damage. Could it get any worse? Unfortunately, it did!

Small haul + Video + Bubzbeauty!

por | | 0 comments

Hello guys! So nothing much once again, but I did a very tiny haul a few days ago when I went out with my bestie. She is going to leave me soon to go back to NorCal for college, and I am not going to see her for awhile. I am going to miss her goofy presence! Anyways, back to the topic. I actually made a video for this haul because I know I don't make enough videos. I don't exactly look the best this time around since my room was boiling hot.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Small haul + Video + Bubzbeauty!Got this floral chiffon top @ Forever21 for $19.80. My first floral top. I haven't always been very fond of floral patterns because I thought it was too much, but this one looked nice.

Small haul + Video + Bubzbeauty!I finally got my MAC 'Smoke & Diamonds' eyeshadow that I missed out on last time it came out. I was so bummed about it. I didn't know it was getting repromoted until I was randomly clicking on the MAC site the night before. So when I was at Nordstrom the first thing I did was flock to the MAC counter to pick this up. I am so happy that I got it. :)

Small haul + Video + Bubzbeauty!Nail polish galore! My bestie showed me the place her mom gets her nail supplies from since she works at a nail salon. They have nail polish for prices that match up to dealers online and best of all it's near my house! I could literally walk there in 10 minutes if I wanted to, but it's too hot to do that now. The store is really small and cramped. It's a bit hard to walk around but for the price I am paying for, I don't really care. They don't always have new collections avaliable, only the permanent colors. However, I am okay with that. There is still a pretty good selection.

I picked up..

  • Essie 'Cantulope'

  • O.P.I 'Melon Of Troy'

  • China Glaza 'White on White'

  • Orly Calcium Shield
That came out to be around $12 dollars. Amazing! I can't wait to go again soon to pick up some more polishes.

In other news, I also just ordered 2 t-shirts from Bubzbeauty.com. Bubbi (aka bubzbeauty on youtube) launched her t-shirt line today around 5:30 PST. I quickly ordered 2 of my favorites. The exchange rate is pretty hefty, but I could not help myself. There were 2 other shirts that I really wanted, but I need to save up some money T_T. I can't wait to get my shirts though. At the moment, her shop is closed due to the massive amount of orders she has received within 2 hours of her launch. It's incredible and inspiring! So check her site out and order some shirts when she reopens her shop!

It's Spring Break!

por | | 0 comments

Hello my lovelies! I am so sorry I have been away for awhile. I was preparing for my finals for the last couple of weeks, so I had no time at all do any updates or even respond to emails for that matter. However, I finished everything on Tuesday night, and I am back home at my parent's house! I have been catching up on sleep because my doctor said I was overworking myself, and my blood pressure was a bit low. It feels so good to rest! If you sent me an email or question in the past few weeks and haven't received a reply, I will get to you asap. My inbox is pretty chaotic with random emails so I need to sort through it.

So yesterday after I went to the doctor, I did a mini drugstore haul at CVS and Walgreens because I haven't done any beauty related shopping in awhile. There were a few sales I wanted to check out.

It's Spring Break!CVS was having a BOGO50 for Maybelline and Milani items, and I've been wanting to get their new Eye Studio quads for such a long time. I originally wanted to wait until they had a BOGO, but I didn't want to wait any longer so I just decided to get them.

It's Spring Break!I got one in 'Give Me Gold' and 'Sunset Seduction'. The swatches are without a base. I haven't used them yet so I can't say much about them yet. I think I'll do a review on it later on.

As for the Milani polishes, I got them in 'Hi-Res' and 'Cyberspace'. They are both from the holographic line, and they are just glittery goodness. They remind me a lot of the OPI Designer Series. Last, I picked up the Rimmel brow pencil in 'Hazel' at Walmart, because I wanted to try filling in my brows with a pencil. I usually fill them in with a powder, but I wanted to try pencil since I've never used one before.

In other news, since I haven't posted this yet, I wanted to announce that I've hit 300 followers! Thank you everyone who have followed and supported my blog! It makes me so happy that there are people who find my posts interesting or helpful haha XD! I am thinking about doing a little mini giveaway soon just to say my thanks :)

I hope to have another post this weekend so look out for that!

Title: 5 Easy Ways to Save Money in a Recession

Details here: http://bytestyle.tv/node/109 Oh, and added bonus? If you do these things, you'll be opting out of systems that are dysfunctional - like the mainstream food system & mainstream media - and supporting new and/or local systems that are better for all of us. So, what are YOUR tips for saving money?

Title: How To Save Money With Coupons

Expand the description and view the text of the steps for this how-to video. Check out Howcast for other do-it-yourself videos from jonz and more videos in the Grocery Shopping category. You can contribute too! Create your own DIY guide at http://www.howcast.com/videos/new or produce your own Howcast spots with the Howcast Filmmakers Program at http://www.howcast.com/filmmakers/apply. Learn from those crazed coupon clippers who've figured out how to buy $500 worth of groceries for 50 cents. To complete this How-To you will need: Sunday newspapers Coupon websites An accordion folder Store circulars Lots of patience Step 1: Search the Sunday papers Don't limit yourself to one edition of the Sunday paper. Serious savers carefully go through the coupon inserts in several editions, because different papers carry different coupons. The money you save will more than offset the cost of the papers. Step 2: Print out coupons Print coupons from internet sites like coolsavings.com, smartsource.com, hotcouponworld.com, coupons.com, couponsurfer.com, and ppgazette.com. Tip: Into green living? Check the internet for organic coupon websites like organiccoupons.com. Step 3: Check brand websites If you can't find coupons for your favorite foods, check the brands' websites; they sometimes offer printable coupons. Step 4: Get organized Organize your coupons in an accordion folder by food type — frozen foods, cereal, beverages, etc. — and arrange them by expiration date. Step 5: Know supermarket policy Check your local supermarkets to determine which has the most generous coupon policy. Some won't accept coupons printed off the internet; others never offer "double coupons," or days when coupons count twice their value. Ask if you can "stack" coupons, or use both a manufacturer's coupon and a store coupon on the same item. Tip: Some stores have a little-known policy of giving you an item free if the advertised price doesn't match the price at the register, so keep your eyes peeled! Step 6: Scrutinize your store circular Scrutinize your weekly store circular for sale items — especially those for which you have coupons. See if you can plan menus around discounted foods. Tip: Grocery items go on sale in rotation, usually every 12 weeks, and are often on sale in several stores. Step 7: Get extra coupons Get extra coupons for the items you buy all the time simply by writing to the manufacturer and asking for them (it helps to praise the product first!). Step 8: Set up a coupon swap Organize a coupon swap with friends and neighbors, so they can take advantage of coupons you don't use and vice versa. Thanks for watching How To Save Money With Coupons!
