Wounded Art

por | | 0 comments

These drawings by Inga Birgisdóttir are beautifully rendered while the subject matter walks the line between endearing and off putting which I suppose is why I'm intrigued.  No one likes to see a wounded animal but I suppose if you're going to see one, these are quite beautiful. (Please excuse the terribly cheesy title.  I couldn't help myself.)

If I Had One Wish... I would be a gypsy

If I Had One Wish... I would be a gypsy

Dearest Devotees,

Spinning silks in shades of light
Velvet dark as shadowed night.

Whirling dancers with eyes like jet
Centuries have not tamed us yet!

Ever since I first watched Gypsy Girl when I was 10, and read all of the books in the series by Elizabeth Arnold about a young gypsy girl who lived with her gypsy family in their caravan at the end of a suburban street, I've been intrigued by the romanticized gypsy life. All the colors in their clothes and in their homes, their free-spiritedness, closeness to nature and artistic abilities, their inherent quirkiness and individuality, and familial closeness caught my attention. Our shared love of traveling and the fact that I have spent most of my life on the move, also attracted me and ever since then my style has had some romany (gypsy-related) elements in it. If you are like me and harbor dreams of being a gypsy, read on.

Fashion and Style

The easiest way to embrace this style is by channeling your bohemian leanings. The bohemian trend was largely influenced by romany style dressing. So think gypsy skirts, peasant tops, tunics, exotic prints, tons of jewelry and color (especially jewel tones).

Beauty

When it comes to the gypsy style beauty there are two ways you can go: natural or jeweled. The Natural look has to do with accenting your current attributes in such a way that you don't look like you are wearing make-up. The jeweled look has to do with jewel tone polish and eye-shadow, smokey-black eyes with black mascara and eyeliner and lightly glosses lips.

What to do

Try out palm reading.

Go thrift store and antique shop hunting. You can probably pick up some really fantastic unique pieces for your wardrobe.

Listen to "indie" type music. Think lighthearted, light-spirited acoustic style music e.g anything Iron and Wine, Blue glass by Furlough, etc.

Go horseback riding.

Take your favorite art supplies ( notebook and pen, sketchbook and pencil, paints, camera, etc) and go to your closest connection to nature. Spend an afternoon allowing nature to inspire you.

Lay in a field and watch clouds go by or if its raining feel free to play in the rain.

Have friends and family over, and have a bonfire/campfire night out. Dance around the campfire.

Go flower and/or fruit picking.

Explore a nearby town, a different neighborhood, or if you can't physically go anywhere try heading to the library and distancing yourself from reality through reading.

Don't forget to have fun on your own and with other people.

Love you all and Stay inspired,

If I Had One Wish... I would be a gypsy

P.S. So let me know know what you think. Have you ever desired to be a traveller/gypsy/Romany? Feel free to let me know in the comments below.

P.P.S I am in no way an expert and honestly this is all for fun, and based off fictional gypsies. I do not intend to offend anyone and if you happen to know more about the subject I would most definitely love to hear from you via email at aury4eva@gmail.com.

"Fancy and Fabulous Facebook Friends of Mine" - Dj Nino BrownNEW SEGMENT! Yep, another one (as if Rick Rossism's weren't enough for you!)

Okay so here's the deal........I got a heap of crew on my Facebook who i suspect are far more interesting then I am.......hence periodically i get to give one of them the same list of questions and it saves me thinking of something witty to write on this blog myself.....

First Up.....Dj Nino Brown!
Chances are, if you dig urban music, then this guy needs no introduction. Australia's top Urban Dj, Brown is the man behind the Blazin mix cd's, hosts his own radio show Trailblazin Radio, has supported the likes of Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z, Rhianna, Diddy along with a long list of others, and is constantly touring the country to sell out shows......
What you may not know is that he also owns two Siamese cats and has discovered a newfound fondness for Dog Walking......

"Fancy and Fabulous Facebook Friends of Mine" - Dj Nino Brown
Without further ado, here's his answers (unedited...although i was tempted)

Name?: " Mister Jean aka DJ Nino Brown " (editor's note: i'll believe it when i see the legal paperwork!)

Location?: "Australia wide ! "

What do you do?: "Dj & make people dance "

Most people don’t know that i.......... "Love big butts and I cannot lie"
(editor's note: it was meant to be something we all DIDN'T know!)

I wish............... " people still bought music ! "

I love........... "sneakers, and lately mostly air max! "

My childhood hero was........ "Kate Jean " (editor's note!.....when Brown was a kid i wasn't even a twinkle in my Fathers eye)

My favourite Ep of all time is.......... "hard one, but of late, Joell Ortiz - Farewell Summer "

I refuse to delete Kate Jean off my Facebook friend list because........" she shaves the side of her head and I think that's sexy ! "

Love....

por | | 0 comments

My God I've made some mistakes with this blog.....!

I wear my heart on my sleeve....

always have....

probably always will....

long, long ago, in the early days of my blog, a girl, a total stranger sent me an email....

apparently i'd written a blog post about my love life and my life in general which struck home with her......

truth be told i have no idea what i wrote or what it was about specifically....

what i do remember is the raw honesty and heartfelt emotion in her letter....

She was in a physically abusive relationship....

She finally walked out.....

The fact that my words apparently were some of which influenced her to opt out and walk away still to this day, leaves me speechless

Ever since then, i've made a vow to keep it real, honest and true up on here......there have been times in my life people have dropped comments to me which i'm sure to them were insignificant, yet meant the world to me, or helped clarify a situation i was in....

so i blog.....on the real

its cost me relationships.......

in fact for one relationship i had to go through and delete everything relating to my past love life on here, which is why if you look back now, this site is fairly clean.....

i love with all of my heart.
i'm different.
i have a creative heart.

art is life..........and alot of the time life as my art ends up here.

alot of people don't understand that.....

i'm learning to balance my creative verbal rants with others privacy....

so i guess all i have to say tonight is....

i'm in love......
no fancy bullshit this time......
two people who respect each other as individuals.....
two people who are the best and closest of friends....
two people who share a world which is entirely their own.
happily ever after is bullshit, but two people willing to discuss, negotiate, work towards a life goal....

enough said.

Love....

Every Bonnie needs a Clyde x

Bullet proof bra from Germany

Bullet proof bra from Germany

Here is the innovation in police woman fashion, especially underwear, that is bullet proof bra for police woman in Germany. How can it be? This innovation should be completed because the recent bullet proof dress usually used is still has a risk for woman. If there is a clash between bullet and bullet proof dress so the pressure of it will make the plastic or metal material in common bra will injure the part of body in which get touch with this material.
This bra is called as 'Action Brassiere', made from material such as cotton, polyester, and several of syntesis material that are condensed without plastic or metal materials as the string of bra. The removable of the plastic and metal materials make the police woman get brave and self confidence in facing the criminals with firearm.

Bullet proof bra from Germany

This bullet proof bra can be used to substitute the bullet proof coat in which is weight and will disturb the mobile of police woman to protect the certain part of the body.
So, do you want it too? :)

My Picks for Fall/Winter 2008-2009 Color Trends

por | | 0 comments
So I’m no expert, but I wondered about the colors trends for this Fall/Winter season. So I’ve been surfing around looking, hoping to stumble across the big Fall/Winter 2008-09 Color Trends. Several hours later, I’m dizzier now than when I started! It seems, depending on where you go, who you think is the top designers or whether you want to go by Paris, London, France, Asia or New York, Miami, or LA styles, that the color trends are as vast as the cities that influence them.

So here’s a handful of what I found in fashion color trends for this Fall/Winter:

>Feminine playful romance of the forties in a timeless elegance; soft yellows, blues, and pale pinks and greens, accenting with softer beige or faux whites

>Rich, warm and deep colors of the earth; carmel or chocolate, rust, deep raspberry and walnut, pumpkin and oranges

>Casual, yet bold and icy; taupish beiges, khaki, earthy browns, icy blue tones, and olive greens

>Modern and urban; asphalt grays, deep dark shades of red, pink, violet, and green. Highlighted by the monochrome of silver, gold or copper

Whatever the color or style, it is a balancing between deep dark, intense colors to modern and casual neutrals. Giving each individual a sense of unique style all their own.

Interiors: Creamy Natural

por | | 0 comments

In sharp contrast to my post yesterday, I'm offering up some casual, comfortable, soothing, creamy neutral spaces.  The versatility in these spaces show us that sandy beige, off white, and pale yellow work with any aesthetic to create a space that depends less on sharp lines and more on soft comfort.  Assuming one day B and I have a house of our own, I will be definitely be utilizing these spaces for inspiration.

Title: Jaguar S-Type 4.0L V8 EXECUTIVE AUTOMATIK Full Review,Start Up, Engine, and In Depth Tour

For more in depth reviews check my channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/avtomobil... Filmed by: Tomaž Kožar Jesenice Ann Arbor - The Jaguar S-type was one of the most keenly anticipated new cars of the past decade. The baby Jag, as it was universally referred to (before the name was announced, anyway), would bring the leaping-cat cachet to a much wider audience, one that was eager for Jaguar's almost mystical combination of Olde English snob appeal wrapped in sexy, feline sheetmetal. Since it went on sale midway through 1999, the S-type has been a commercial success, nearly doubling the marque's sales. But, while the public has rushed to embrace it, critics have scrutinized the S-type because it's the first Jaguar to share its platform with a Ford Motor Company product (the Lincoln LS). Although all S-types are assembled at Castle Bromwich, England, the car was engineered with Ford. Ardent Jaguar fans were concerned that the S-type could be something less than a true Jaguar because of that. Turns out that the under-the-skin commonality with Lincoln was handled adroitly. The two cars drive differently, and the S-type feels like a Jaguar. But after twelve months and 30,000 miles with a sapphire-blue S-type 4.0, count us among those who see elsewhere in the S-type a veneer of Britishness, of Jaguarness, that in places appears thin. Take, for instance, that feline sheetmetal. Start at the front--no subtlety here with the oval grille and four round headlights. By and large, it works. "The Jag is an absolute hit with the general public," reported associate editor Joe DeMatio after a trip to his mid-Michigan hometown. "They know it's a Jaguar and are very excited about it." To our eyes, though, the side is entirely too busy, with too many character lines. More than one staffer likened the main crease along the door handles to that of a Chevy Lumina. That's like suggesting the queen wears army boots. But it was the interior that came in for the most criticism. Jaguar has always had a special knack for interiors, which invariably are likened to a men's club. When one contributing writer described the S-type's atmosphere as "more pub than club," it was a cute way of saying it falls short of the traditional Jaguar standards. It's hard not to think that the S-type interior shows what happens when the idea of British luxury gets refracted by the Dearborn "glass house" that is Ford Motor Company's world headquarters and then blurred further by myopic MBAs who can't see past the next quarter's bottom line. "There's none of the detailing and craftsmanship that made Jag interiors so nice," said executive editor Mark Gillies, who's been riding in Jaguars since he was a lad in short pants. Whatever one thinks of the way the interior looks, there is no getting around its lack of storage space (which is somewhat alleviated for 2001 with the CD changer's move from the glove box to the trunk) or its tight accommodations overall. On a happier note, seating comfort generally received good reviews, even on long drives. Extended road trips demonstrated just how much the S-type coddled its captain and crew and how eagerly it gobbled up the miles. With 281 horsepower and 287 pound-feet of torque, the 4.0-liter V-8 never wants for power, either on the highway or in town. Despite a slow-shifting transmission, it provides the kind of smooth, effortless thrust that really does bring to mind those images from the Discovery Channel where the live jaguar sprints across the Yucatan to chomp down on some hapless wild pig. We'd say the V-8 is beyond reproach, but it was sometimes a little lazy starting on cold mornings, and its short cruising range was appreciated only by true devotees of service station architecture Part of the S-type's seductive quality on road trips, long or short, was its accomplished blend of a responsive chassis and a creamy ride. Helping our car's double-wishbone suspension achieve this feat was Jaguar's optional CATS (Computer Active Technology Suspension), which automatically switches the dampers between soft and firm settings. Unfortunately, as the miles accumulated, the ride became noticeably ragged, with the S-type transmitting an un-Jaguar-like amount of impact harshness to the cabin. In addition, the brakes always felt undersized, requiring more pedal pressure and travel than we would have liked. The steering, however, was spot-on in its quickness and effort. Curiously, for 2001, Jaguar has switched to a ZF power steering unit, which the company says improves steering feel and isolation. We drove a 2001 model, and, despite those contradictory claims, the steering felt pretty much the same, but that's fine with us.

Title: Kishin, Day blooming waterlily from Garet Uemura

Hybridized in 2004 by crossing two unnamed lilies. This lily has very double flowers that are pastel lavender on the outside with creamy white-lavender interior petaloids. Unlike Kelly Mashiba, the petals on this lily are very long and slender. The leaves are solid green on the top with purple below. In Japanese, Kishin means "Joyful Heart" and is the "Kaimyo" (Buddhist name) of Garet's grandfather.

Moving into the dorms!

por | | 0 comments

Okay, so I'm moving tomorrow afternoon into my dorm at my university. I'm getting homesick already. I'm going to miss all my parents' lovely homemade Chinese food. I'll miss being around all the easily accessible Asian beauty products and whatnot. I'm going to miss my bed, my room, my house! Alright, I'm over-reacting a little..or a lot. I'm coming home every two weeks or so anyways so it's really not that bad. If I had decided to go to New York for design school, now that would of been worse.

Anyhow, I'm a bit nervous, scared, excited etc. Not sure what to expect, but yes! I am finally beginning a new phase of my life. I still have some things to pack so that's all I have to say for now. I'll see how tomorrow goes and report back on it.

Title: Super Hurricanes

Why some tropical storms erupt into monster hurricanes capable of wrecking coastlines. Can they be predicted? September 12th, 2008. A hurricane named Ike is headed toward the beaches of Galveston Island in Texas. The eye of the storm, where the most intense winds are, is still hundreds of miles away... Yet the rising water has already spread over much of the island. Eight days back, researchers had flown into Ike and measured its winds... at 145 miles per hour. That made it a category 4 out of 5 on the Saffir-Simpson scale. Moving into the western Atlantic, Ike fed on a deep layer of warm ocean water, sweeping it up and growing to deadly intensity. Over a million people were evacuated from coastlines in Cuba as the storm approached. Ike weakened as it passed over the island. But as it entered the Gulf of Mexico by late September 10th, now on a beeline for Texas, it had begun to re-intensify. Residents of Galveston were ordered to evacuate. Most of the 58,000 residents did. Thousands remained to brave the storm.... Despite the memory of another storm... over a century ago... that showed how vulnerable this low-lying island can be. September 6th, 1900... powerful waves began lashing the coastlines of Louisiana and Mississippi. With swells rising in Galveston, on the 7th, a hurricane warning was put into effect. That afternoon, a ship sailing from New Orleans encountered the storm. The captain estimated winds at 100 miles per hour. But at this point, little was known about the storm... where it would hit... and how bad it would be. By 5:00 PM, hurricane force winds began to pound the beaches of Galveston. By the time the hurricane came ashore that evening, its winds had risen to 135 miles per hour... a category four by today's standards. Around 8,000 lives were lost... in what remains to this day the deadliest natural disaster in American history. The city of Galveston was reduced to rubble by wind driven waves and tides, called storm surge, over 15 feet high. The island had endured numerous storms since it was founded in 1838. What made this one so powerful? Hurricanes, also called cyclones or typhoons, are tropical storms that feed on solar heat captured by the oceans. When conditions are right, a hurricane can release this energy in a fury... Of wind and rain.... A rare few, like the one that hit Galveston, go beyond the norm, to marshal the extreme power of the seas... and leave in their wake a legacy of devastation, death, and despair. One of the deadliest ever hit what's now Bangladesh in 1970. Moving ashore in a densely populated river delta, it claimed as many as 500,000 lives. In 1969, weather satellites launched earlier in the decade showed hurricane Camille bearing down on the Mississippi coast. The storm intensified suddenly... with category five winds of around 200 miles per hour, and a storm surge that reached 24 feet high. Camille wrecked the coastline and drowned 143. Inevitably, the storm carried huge volumes of moisture as it traveled inland. The result, when Camille hit the mountains in Virginia, was devastating floods that killed another 113. Then there was Andrew in 1992, in an otherwise slow hurricane season. Just two days after reaching hurricane status, Andrew took a turn into the warm waters of the Gulf Stream... then accelerated into the Florida coastline with winds measured at 155 miles per hour. It caused at least 26.5 billion dollars in damage. Could it get any worse? Unfortunately, it did!
