NEW SEGMENT! Yep, another one (as if Rick Rossism'sweren't enough for you!)
Okay so here's the deal........I got a heap of crew on my Facebook who i suspect are far more interesting then I am.......hence periodically i get to give one of them the same list of questions and it saves me thinking of something witty to write on this blog myself.....
First Up.....DjNino Brown! Chances are, if you dig urban music, then this guy needs no introduction. Australia's top Urban Dj, Brown is the man behind the Blazin mix cd's, hosts his own radio show Trailblazin Radio, has supported the likes of Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z, Rhianna, Diddy along with a long list of others, and is constantly touring the country to sell out shows...... What you may not know is that he also owns two Siamese cats and has discovered a newfound fondness for Dog Walking......
Without further ado, here's his answers (unedited...although i was tempted)
Name?: " Mister Jean aka DJ Nino Brown "(editor's note: i'll believe it when i see the legal paperwork!)
Location?:"Australia wide ! "
What do you do?: "Dj & make people dance "
Most people dont know that i.......... "Love big butts and I cannot lie"(editor's note: it was meant to be something we all DIDN'T know!) I wish............... " people still bought music ! "
I love........... "sneakers, and lately mostly air max! "
My childhood hero was........ "Kate Jean "(editor's note!.....when Brown was a kid i wasn't even a twinkle in my Fathers eye)
My favourite Ep of all time is.......... "hard one, but of late, Joell Ortiz - Farewell Summer "
I refuse to delete Kate Jean off my Facebook friend list because........" she shaves the side of her head and I think that's sexy ! "

I'm a student at a liberal arts school. I spend August through May with the writings of great minds. My freshman year I fell in love with Hobbes and last year introduced me to the wonders of Sartre and Hannah Arendt. My copy of The Second Sex is packed with margin notes, I kind of adore Beckett, and I think that Rousseau was a lazy hippie. The intense curriculum is sort of responsible for my blog. With upwards of 200 pages to read a night, there's little time to browse Style.com or accessorize. While I started the blog as a high schooler, it's become essential to my sanity since starting college. My love for the fashion world needs an outlet and Classic Black Pumps provides that. And I try to incorporate fashion into my studies. I wrote a paper about Communism meaning the ultimate downfall of the fashion industry. My Natural Sciences final essay talked about fashion trends being an accelerated mirror of evolution. It's a little mission of mine to prove to my fellow scholars that fashion has a place in academics. Now, there's already a pretty brilliant list of this nature on the wonderful blog, Academic Chic, but I thought I would make my own version of the list.
-Fashion, Culture, and Identity; by Fred Davis -The End of Fashion: How Marketing Changed the Clothing Business Forever; by Teri Agins -The Language of Fashion; by Roland Barthes -The Fashion System; by Roland Barthes -Appearance and Identity: Fashioning the Body in Postmodernity; by Llewellyn Negrin -Queen of Fashion: What Marie Antoinette Wore to the Revolution; by Caroline Weber* -The Fashion Reader; by Abby Lillethun -Fugitive Denim: A Moving Story of People and Pants in a Fugitive World; by Rachel Louise Snyder
Fashion isn't just about what looks pretty. It's about history, society, and art. And we style mavens need to be well versed on the subject. Happy reading!
*This book is pretty much the cornerstone of my scholarly forays into fashion. If you only read one, this is it. So good.

Since I had so much fun writing yesterday's post, I decided that I would write a similar one today. This post is about the random things I like to do/ or am interested in that you might never guess was apart of my personality if you didn't know me. I love finding out unusual things about people and I am hoping that sharing my quirks with you will help you find it easier to be quirky, and maybe even help me meet people with similar (random) interests. So without further ado, here are my top 10 quirks.
1. Greek and Roman Mythology: This is why I love books like Percy Jackson. I just love how ancient societies were able to create such amazing stories to explain things that they encountered daily.
2. The Sims, especially the Sims 3. I'm not a big video games person but I really love the Sims.
3. A really odd and wide taste in music ranging from classical, to hip hop, to metal, indie rock and country.
4. Youtube (This is more of an obsession) : particularly watching youtubers like Shane Dawson, Natalie Tran of Community Channel and Charlie McDonell.
5. Avatar -the last Airbender: The cartoon not the movie.
6. Magical beings in novels in general.
7. All types of dance, gymnastics, yoga and other similar activities that involve testing the limits of your flexibility (I have a pretty wide range of movement).
8. I absolutely love singing, am a songwriter and have been told I have a nice voice, but I have no desire to become a performer. Why? Stage fright.
9. Flying does really weird things to me (the air pressure causes splitting headaches akin to those Harry might have felt through his scar) yet I continue to adore flying.
10. Psychology and any study really that helps me understand why people act the way they do.I own so many non-fiction and self help books, its obscene.
Love you all and Stay inspired,
P.S. So let me know what you think. What are your quirks? How do you feel about them ? (I actually happen to like mine :) )Feel free to let me know in the comments below.

The big event is almost here; time to get ready for Tucson 2010!! If you haven’t already made your reservations (plane, hotel, car, etc.), now is the time to do so before you miss out on the biggest event for all gem, mineral, and rock enthusiasts.
Every year, Tucson is host to the United States largest Gem and Mineral show; starting late January and running thru the middle of February. Dealers, wholesalers, and buyers all converge on the small southern Arizona town to discuss, barter, sale, buy, meet & great, and see what is new (and old) in the industry. There are hundreds of shows with thousands of vendors from all over the globe and across the United States, with one thing in common; show what they have and entice us with the newest, latest and greatest.
Some of the following shows are ones that I recommend and do attend. You’ll find a wide selection of finished jewelry, tools, findings, displays, beads, gems, lapidary, and much much more. These shows as most in the Tucson area require wholesale and business industry credentials to get into them. Check with each show’s site to pre-register for many of them, see details and check for dates; as this year, several of the shows do not overlap as in past years.
Street Vendors: This is my favorite place to shop; I’ve gotten some of the most unique and unusual items here. Miles and miles of vendors take over the hotels, parking lots, and anything in-between. Across the street from the freeway, starting at Congress and running all the way down past Freeway Aveune, you can find any type of vendor; beads, findings, silver, raw materials, lapidary, finished products, gemstones, clothes, bags; just to name a few. And best of all, most are open to the public, however check with vendors before purchase to make sure they don’t require a wholesale license.
JOGS: If you’re looking for Amber or Southwest jewelry, this is the place to be. Dealers from around the globe bring the best and finest in Amber and southwest products. The show also hosts many vendors of finished products, collectables, and raw materials. This is a wholesale only show and requires a Tax ID to register and attend. G&LW (Gem Mall, Holidome, Grants Inn): At many of these shows you can find international dealers and wholesalers; pearls, turquoise, silver/copper, finished products, beads galore, beading findings/products, displays, and much more. This show is a wholesale only and requires Tax ID to register and attend.
China Mountain: If Turquoise is what you are after, then you’ll need to visit the buildings located between Gem Mall and Holidome, where you’ll find the well known vendor China Mountain. Plenty of Turquoise and Coral in all different cuts and styles to chose from. Also a wholesale vendor, but you’ll need to check with them at the site to see if they will sell retail.
Electric Park RV: Though I’ve only attended this one once, I understand it is a great place to get lapidary, rocks, minerals, or slabs; so I’ve added it back onto my list for this year’s trip. Most sell either wholesale or retail so check with each vendor before purchase.
While this is just a hint of what’s at Tucson, there are also many other shows like the AGTA GemFair Tucson, GJX Gem & Jewelry Show, Tucson Gem & Mineral Show, Madagascar Minerals Gem Show, Rio Grande Catalog In Motion and Swarovski Elements-Create Your Style 2010 shows. Several are also offering many of the national instructors for classes and seminars, so check with your favorite instructor or show for schedules and details.
