Hey guys. This is my 300th entry on Classic Black Pumps. I started this blog my senior year of high school when I was 17 years old, and it's been a major cornerstone of my life since then. I feel like my 300th entry should be something epic, but this week has been a hectic one and the fashion-y ideas swimming in my head are few. That being the case, let's take a trip down memory lane. Enter: my favorite entries I've ever written, starting with the earliest. Enjoy!

A Tribute to Fall Colors is an assortment of pictures that Maura and Helene took outside our house. It's really very pretty and marks the beginning of my fondness for photography. I got a Flickr account around the same time this was posted.

I wrote Cupid after seeing Matthew Sheppard's mother speak at my high school. Not fashion-related, but probably one of the most emotionally-driven things I've written on my blog.

Prom-o-rama is one of my first Polyvore-packed entries. Also, this is one of the few earlier entries in which the outfits are something I would consider wearing nowadays. Seriously. A lot of entries before it have clothing that, when looking at them today, I'm like "Ew. Really, Hillary?"

RIP Alexander McQueen. This entry marks the very first day I fell in love with him.

One of my fondest blogging memories? Being sent two tubes of Lipstick Queen lipstick and a postcard from Poppy King after I mentioned a Nylon article on her apartment in this here entry. It left me pretty starstruck. I still want/need to read her book, "Lessons of a Lipstick Queen."

LOLOLOLOL. I totally referred to a rather Jersey Shore-esque Chanel Resort collection as "quietly sexy." Love is no longer blind, friends.

I think this ranks as one of my favorite entries I've ever written.

I am still crazy coveting the Marchesa dresses in this entry.

I LOVED HER FIRST! TOLD YOU!

One of the first entries I wrote during my freshman year of college. I just realized that I've written the majority of this blog as a college student. Crazy stuff, no?

Wow. I think this was the first and last time I went over a collection, look by look. I was really obsessed with Chanel then, wasn't I?

I have done very few outfit posts, and in this one, I'm wearing purple knit tights by Juicy Couture.

Since writing this entry, things have changed considerably. Not the whole dressing-to-the-nines part. I still do that on a daily basis. But rather, the reactions my peers have to my outfits. They're amazingly supportive now and considerably stylish themselves. We've all evolved.

Fashion is fun. This remains one of my favorite collections to date. It makes me smile.

Here we have an entry inspired by Gala Darling and based on my roommates at the time (also there's a hint of Maura in there, of course). My roommates loved this entry. It was awesome making them a part of my fashion blogging world.

I don't wanna talk about it. I'm so happy that the Tumblr phase was short-lived.

A Rock Band-inspired collection? Yes, please!

Something awesome about keeping a blog is being able to look back and see how you've changed. I hope that this entry will always function to remind me of how much I've grown.

Enter my first attempt at articulating the academic side of fashion.

When I wrote this entry, I was finally, after nearly three years, getting the hang of the whole blogging thing. This is very much in part due to my internship with IFB. What a learning experience!

Thank you all so much for being a part of this adventure with me. I really love the world I've found in fashion blogging, and I hope to be a part of it for a long time. I've always been soft-spoken, a follower. This blog is the first thing I've done that is mine and only mine. I am so proud of what I've created here and through it I've learned that I have the capability to create even more. This blog has given me a voice when I used to think I wasn't worthy of one. I used to (and sometimes still do) spend my days shuffling about quietly, not wanting to upset anyone and only speaking when spoken to. This blog has changed all of that, helping me to learn that I have a lot to say and I say it well. So yes. Fashion blogging, you rule. And readers, you do, too. Have a beautiful weekend. I really love you all.

"Fancy and Fabulous Facebook Friends of Mine" - Dj Nino BrownNEW SEGMENT! Yep, another one (as if Rick Rossism's weren't enough for you!)

Okay so here's the deal........I got a heap of crew on my Facebook who i suspect are far more interesting then I am.......hence periodically i get to give one of them the same list of questions and it saves me thinking of something witty to write on this blog myself.....

First Up.....Dj Nino Brown!
Chances are, if you dig urban music, then this guy needs no introduction. Australia's top Urban Dj, Brown is the man behind the Blazin mix cd's, hosts his own radio show Trailblazin Radio, has supported the likes of Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z, Rhianna, Diddy along with a long list of others, and is constantly touring the country to sell out shows......
What you may not know is that he also owns two Siamese cats and has discovered a newfound fondness for Dog Walking......

"Fancy and Fabulous Facebook Friends of Mine" - Dj Nino Brown
Without further ado, here's his answers (unedited...although i was tempted)

Name?: " Mister Jean aka DJ Nino Brown " (editor's note: i'll believe it when i see the legal paperwork!)

Location?: "Australia wide ! "

What do you do?: "Dj & make people dance "

Most people don’t know that i.......... "Love big butts and I cannot lie"
(editor's note: it was meant to be something we all DIDN'T know!)

I wish............... " people still bought music ! "

I love........... "sneakers, and lately mostly air max! "

My childhood hero was........ "Kate Jean " (editor's note!.....when Brown was a kid i wasn't even a twinkle in my Fathers eye)

My favourite Ep of all time is.......... "hard one, but of late, Joell Ortiz - Farewell Summer "

I refuse to delete Kate Jean off my Facebook friend list because........" she shaves the side of her head and I think that's sexy ! "

Link Love: www.assparade.com (editors note:......*sigh*)

Where can people shop/listen/follow/stalk you?

Sneak Peek Tucson Finds & Review

por | | 0 comments
Sneak Peek Tucson Finds & ReviewAnother buying season is over in Tucson; vendors have packed up and are now returning home or moving onto the next show and Tucson is probably settling down just a bit until the next big event. Usually we go to Tucson in the 1st week of activities, but because of scheduling this year couldn’t quite make it until the 2nd week.

The difference that I saw was in missing out on the quality and more unique stones and finds in the first week; whereas with the second week it appeared picked over, but pricing was a little cheaper compared to the first week, especially toward the end of the week when the vendors were willing to deal/bargain for their products. I can’t say one show is better than others, just as everyone has their ‘favorite’. But I have my favorites and may have even added a few new ones to the ‘continue to attend list’. It really is up to the person, their schedule, finances, and being able to get to Tucson. Although if you’re in the business of jewelry and lapidary, I would highly recommend going, even just once!

With that said, we still were able to find quite a few unique and unusual finds such as California Palm Wood Jasper, Ivoryite, Star Jasper, Inca Jade, Black Agate/Pyrite, Ammonites (in two different cuts!), Goniatites, and many other stones. But, not to be forgotten, we also got lots of Turquoise, Magnesite, Onyx, Jaspers, Agates, pendants, glass/ceramic and wooden beads, crystals, and much more.

Here’s just a taste of what we did pick up in Tucson….check back and stay tuned as we début many of these stones and more in coming styles this season!

Strands of Stone Chips

por | | 0 comments
Natural stones in chip form are sometimes hard to work with; often I use them as spacers or in earrings. In these two designs, I used them as the accent to the focal pendants. The pendants in both are beautiful Brazilian Ocos Agates; deep shades of green, black and white in one and the other is pure innocent of white. Each has been encased in handcrafted non-tarnish wire.

To the left is a 2strand in Fancy Jasper with the focal pendant of snowy white Ocos Agate.

To the right is a 2 strand in Snakeskin Japer, Sandy Opals and Swarovski Crystals, with a focal pendant of deep green/black Ocos Agate.

Both are available at our website along with many other unique natural stone designs.

Indie Appreciation Week: My Top 10 places to visit

Indie Appreciation Week: My Top 10 places to visit

Dearest Devotees,

Like I mentioned in my first indie appreciation week post, to me part of being independent means being free to travel and explore the world around me. I absolutely adore travelling, and I never feel more at ease with myself than when I am in the process of moving. Packing, unpacking and exploring new places are actions that are second nature to me. The way people have adventure lists of death defying/ extremely thrilling activities they want to do like bungee jumping and skydiving is the way I have a running list of places that I really want to go always at the ready. I see the world as an exciting mélange of people with different cultures, histories, and lifestyles and getting to live these experiences really thrills me. Below are the top 10 places I currently desire to see:

10.Cairo, Egypt: Oh the richness of culture with just a dash of danger that seeing the pyramids would give me! From what I've heard Cairo is a city that is just bursting with life in which the new and the old live peacefully side. I also long to have a camel ride along the desert to the sunrise.

9.Dublin, Democrat Republic of Ireland :I love Northern Ireland dearly. It is a place that is truly close to my heart and I've driven through Dublin before but I've never really seen it before. I love Gaelic. I think it’s a beautiful language and I feel it would be really nice to see it used more.

8.Dubai, United Arab Emirates- It's so exotically beautiful there and apparently they have a booming arts and crafts industry with lovely textiles and even more stunning jewelry. Add that to the enlarged beach city feel and you're looking at a lovely holiday.

Indie Appreciation Week: My Top 10 places to visit

7.Toronto, Canada: pure curiousity and lovely grade school friends to see.

6.Sydney, Australia: also sheer curiousity with the added possibility of running into Natalie Tran, one of my favorite youtubers.

5.Milan and Florence, Italy: Apparently they are the textile and art capitals of the world. I would love to see these assertations proved.

4.Barcelona, Spain: Been to Madrid and I liked it but something tells me I will probably fall in love with the regal elegance of Barcelona.

3.Venice, Italy: 1. It’s VENICE! 2. It may be one of the most unusual cities ever (structurally). 3. I really, really want to sail in a gondola (sea sickness be damned).

2.San Francisco, California: The Academy of Art is there and it’s my current art grad school lust. Also, it’s rumored to be a ridiculously beautiful city what with the bay and the Golden Gate Bridge. 3. I am in the United States after all; therefore I must seize the day.

1.Paris, France: Fashion Capital of the world. Home of incredibly stylish men and women and land of so much inspiration. Almost anywhere else on this list can be switched around but Paris is most definitely no.1 for me.

Love you all and Stay inspired,
Indie Appreciation Week: My Top 10 places to visit
P.S. So let me know what you think. What places in the world do you really want to see? Feel free to let me know in the comments below.

Title: ADM Videoblog #154 -- "Do Videobloggers Need Validation or Is It Appreciation?

I don't believe Vincent Ferrari was entirely correct yesterday when he put out the feelers for validation from his audience: insignificantthoughts.com/?2010/?12/?07/ ?it-tv-episode-349-validation Rather, what I think he was driving at to my ear sounded heaps more like appreciation, more than anything. Here is my take on it, and at $5/month to hear Vinny offer opinions and punditry on the issues of the political day? You've probably spent more on coffee today already...
