18th Birthday and the aftermath

Alas! I have finally turned 18 and legal. What do I have to say to that? Well, not much but this was the best birthday I had in all 4 years of my high school life. Everything was peaceful yet it turned out great. Not fuss and chaos like in the previous years where I felt like everything was falling apart at the last minute. I feared that feeling this year but luckily everything came together perfectly. Cheers to that!

Sunday morning I woke up early to finish up some things for my finals project for English. My parents had took my car to go out to run errands (that's what I get for having a gas efficient car) so I was waiting for them to get back. I needed my dad to drop my BFF, Claudia and I at the mall (our Cheesecake Factory is inside the mall) because I didn't feel like driving. We left the house at 2 and we got to the mall around 2:30. My birthday dinner was scheduled at 5:30 so we had tons of time to kill. We walked around the mall and shopped. It was pretty fun, and I bought a pretty dress from Forever21. There wasn't much between then and the dinner though. When the dinner came around, everyone arrived promptly and that was a relief. I was so afraid people were going to be late, and then we would have to end up waiting an hour for a table. The dinner was awesome, and everyone just chatted and goofed around. I think our waiter thought we were a bunch of bizarre kids. Oh well! The food was decent. For dessert, I ordered an Apple Crisp, and because it was my birthday celebration the waiters/waitresses sang to me.

Look at all those sprinkles. I didn't finish it, but I used my spoon and scraped through the chocolate syrup and sprinkles :p That went in my tummy. Yay~

After the dinner, we just walked around the quiet mall to burn off the food. All the shops were close but the doors to the mall were still open. Everyone gave me hugs before I left, and that was pretty nice :)

Now on the actual day of my birthday, which was yesterday, I enjoyed a quiet day with my parents. They took my out to eat at Todai because I had been craving it since December.

I love the desserts at Todai! Eclair, Green Tea Cake, Strawberry Cake, Tiramisu and chocolate fudge! I also got Green Tea ice cream, but I ate that before I took the picture.

The rest of the day I spent at home studying for finals. Not exactly fun, but I still had to do it. I didn't mind it at all, because I had a wonderful celebration the night before. However, my parents did buy me a cake, and we ate that after dinner.

The cake was so gorgeous I didn't want to eat it! I still have some left over, but I picked out all the fruits while it was still fresh :) Thanks mommy&daddy!

Last but not least, presents! I loved all the gifts I got this year from my friends. I can not thank them enough!

Sephora Blockbuster Palette! I have been eying this for awhile now, and I finally have it in my hands :) I already used it once for a brown/black smokey eye. It turned out really nice. I can't wait to use this palette for those special occasions.

Overall, my birthday was a blast, and I couldn't ask for more! Big thanks to my parents and my friends. They really have a special place in my heart! Love y'all! <3

This video is an ultimate collection of clips proving that My Chemical Romance do not want everyone to kill themselves and are not promoting self harm in their lyrics!!! In May 2008 the Daily Mail wrote two articles called "Why no child is safe from the sinister cult of emo" and "Girl, 13, hangs herself after becoming obsessed with Emo 'suicide cult' rock band" (My Chemical Romance), after Hannah Bond, a 13 year old girl, killed herself. She classed herself as an emo and was a fan of My Chemical Romance. They said that emo "links death with glamour" and that "Emo fans wear dark clothes, practise self-harm and listen to 'suicide cult' rock bands". This is a complete generalisation and a very stereotypical view that shows no research went into really finding out about them. They also said that "One of the foremost of these 'suicide cult' bands is My Chemical Romance" First off, My Chemical Romance has ALWAYS denied being emo and are completely against self harm and suicide. In fact they really want to help you and save your life if you are feeling depressed. The Daily Mail also wrote that when Hannah was discovered with cuts on her arms "she told [her parents] she'd inflicted the wounds herself and that it was part of an emo 'initiation ceremony'". I have never ever heard of this before - an emo initiation ceremony????? They also (ignorantly) said that "the 'black parade' is a place where emos believe they will go when they die". This is ridiculous. The Black Parade is the name of My Chemical Romance's 3rd album. It is not emo heaven. They do not know what they are talking about. I personally believe that many people who are already depressed/suicidal/have tendancies to self harm, may be attracted to My Chemical Romance because, yes, their lyrics do talk about death. But MCR cannot be blamed for these people's problems. They must already have things going on in their life that are making them feel like this - music often HELPS people to cope when they have issues to deal with. I do not own any of the clips but I have only taken small sections, so I hope no one is offended by this.

Dearest Devotees,

In keeping with Indie Appreciation Week, here are some of my favorite indie-related songs. Some of them are by undiscovered/independent musicians, some of them have certain musical qualities (usually acoustic/ primarily vocal leanings) that lend them to being classified as "indie", and the rest of them are just songs that I feel somehow celebrate being independent. I'm also borrowing the idea of Krissy from Shimmer Like Gold, and have included links

Feel free to play these songs while cross-training your art, doing chores/ homework, or doing nothing at all but relaxing. Welcome to my office

Thanks to my Mum, Christmas came early this year and i scored a brand spanking new laptop to take on my adventures into the unknown.....Gypsy life is definitely fun if not somewhat inconvenient when it come to keeping up with laundry.....

Anyway, i'm now mobile. I absolutely love it but the only downside is that arranging pics on here is kind of hard on this comp.....either that or i'm just too much of a tech retard to know how to operate something that isn't an early 90's piece of junk like the last PC i was running with.....

To Be or Not To Be – Lady Bug

Another new design in the charmed versions I’m doing. This one has been referred to as a “Lady Bug”; the center focal is a murano glass large puffy red heart with black pot-a-dots. All around are hand-charmed pieces in freshwater cultured button pearls, bicone Swarovski Fire Opal crystals that bring out the deep red of the crystal among the orange, black onyx smooth tube and round black agate stones.

Nestled among the pieces I done double twist coils in artistic non-tarnish wire; along with the stationary swirls at either end; with the nesting of the charms, you could wear this necklace either direction giving it two different looks.

Tucson 2009 Street Vendors

If it’s good weather, one can walk the length of the I10 freeway hotels and shop among miles of street vendors. These vendors take over almost every inch of hotel space/rooms, parking lots and sidewalks, ballrooms and lobbies, and even around the pool and courtyard areas.

Here one will find anything and everything you can image from raw materials cut from the mine, custom cut materials strung for beading, jewelry and gift items, equipment and tool for the beading enthusiast to the professional lapidary, and even see geodes the size of small buildings! There are merchants local to the area, vendors from across the country and many from around the world. Some vendors sell direct to the public while others will only sell wholesale; check with each vendor before purchase to determine if they sell to the public or wholesale only.

Last year, this is where we found a lot of great deals and very unusual gemstones; our resident gemologist added more raw materials for his collect during our Street Vendor day than anything time in Tucson.
