Beautiful G-string?

por | | 0 comments
Beautiful G-string?

A G-string (alternatively gee-string or gee string) is a type of underwear, a narrow piece of cloth, leather, or plastic that covers or holds the genitals, passes between the buttocks, and is attached to a band around the hips, worn as swimwear or underwear by both men and women. The two terms G-string and thong are often used interchangeably; however, they can refer to distinct pieces of clothing: The primary difference between the two garments is that a g-string has less material between the legs and buttocks, hence a string-like appearance. Variants of the G-string include the V-string,with a triangle "V" of cloth at the top of the rear, and the T-string, where a single string passes around the waist and between the legs, forming a T between the buttocks.

G-string or thong is probably the earliest form of clothing known to mankind; having originated in the warmer climates of sub-Saharan Africa where clothing was first worn nearly 75,000 years ago. Many tribal peoples, such as some of the Khoisan people of southern Africa, wore thongs for many centuries. Much like the 2000-plus-year-old Japanese fundoshi, these early garments were made with the male genitalia in mind.

Although developed for the male anatomy by primitive peoples, in the modern West G-strings are more often worn by females. Female strippers and erotic dancers in the west have been wearing G-strings and thongs during their routines since the mid-1920s. They first[citation needed] gained mainstream popularity as swimwear in South America, particularly in Brazil in the 1970s. It was originally a style of thong swimsuit whose rear area became so narrow that it would disappear between the wearer's buttocks.

Every fall, the Hunter wellies go back on my wish list and every year, I end up not getting them, much to my regret.  I'm bound and determined not to allow that to happen this year.  I'm not sure if I want the original tall ($125) or the or the sleekly designed Regent ($150), but if you run across a sale let me know because I cannot go another year with a dependable rain boot.  If you have some Hunter wellies, I'd love to know your thoughts.  Are they comfy?  Have you had any problems with them? Which design do you like?

Fashion, academically.

por | | 0 comments

I'm a student at a liberal arts school. I spend August through May with the writings of great minds. My freshman year I fell in love with Hobbes and last year introduced me to the wonders of Sartre and Hannah Arendt. My copy of The Second Sex is packed with margin notes, I kind of adore Beckett, and I think that Rousseau was a lazy hippie. The intense curriculum is sort of responsible for my blog. With upwards of 200 pages to read a night, there's little time to browse Style.com or accessorize. While I started the blog as a high schooler, it's become essential to my sanity since starting college. My love for the fashion world needs an outlet and Classic Black Pumps provides that. And I try to incorporate fashion into my studies. I wrote a paper about Communism meaning the ultimate downfall of the fashion industry. My Natural Sciences final essay talked about fashion trends being an accelerated mirror of evolution. It's a little mission of mine to prove to my fellow scholars that fashion has a place in academics. Now, there's already a pretty brilliant list of this nature on the wonderful blog, Academic Chic, but I thought I would make my own version of the list.

-Fashion, Culture, and Identity; by Fred Davis
-The End of Fashion: How Marketing Changed the Clothing Business Forever; by Teri Agins
-The Language of Fashion; by Roland Barthes
-The Fashion System; by Roland Barthes
-Appearance and Identity: Fashioning the Body in Postmodernity; by Llewellyn Negrin
-Queen of Fashion: What Marie Antoinette Wore to the Revolution; by Caroline Weber*
-The Fashion Reader; by Abby Lillethun
-Fugitive Denim: A Moving Story of People and Pants in a Fugitive World; by Rachel Louise Snyder

Fashion isn't just about what looks pretty. It's about history, society, and art. And we style mavens need to be well versed on the subject. Happy reading!

*This book is pretty much the cornerstone of my scholarly forays into fashion. If you only read one, this is it. So good.

What's in a Necklace Length

por | | 0 comments
Wondering what length of necklace fits you? Many people just wear whatever looks good and that usually works. Then there are others that only wear a certain style or length, depending on what is ‘hip ‘n hot’ or the trendy, stylish, and chic. If you’re wondering what those different lengths are, read on…..

What's in a Necklace LengthChoker Style: A choker is generally 15”-16” long and lies up next to your neck. Chokers look really nice with open necklines; round or v-shaped tops.
What's in a Necklace Length
Princess Style: A princess length is 18”-20” long and lies lower than the choker style. With this style, it more of a relaxed length and works really well with high necklines, such as turtlenecks; or for a different look, wear it with a really low neckline dress or shirt. This style is also great for double-stranded necklaces.

What's in a Necklace LengthMatinee Style: A matinee necklace is 23”-27” long and usually falls lover over a blouse and works great with layers of jackets or blazers. Matinee length allows freedom to design very striking multiple stand necklaces.
What's in a Necklace Length
Lariat Style: The lariat length varies from short 36” to as long as 42”. This gives a very flowing and long line for necklaces; can end with charms or pendants.

Whatever your style, wear what looks and makes you feel best! For many different necklaces in these styles, browse and purchase from our website.

Title: Matchbook Romance- Lovers & Liars (Lyrics)

Lyrics Bellow Let's start out by starting over. What did I expect? You're no good at lying and I'm no good at comebacks. But you're so untouchable. I'm oh-so-terrible at this. I'm terrible at this, you know. Don't hold this against me. I've already said I'm sorry. And I bet you've got every word I said memorized in your head. And you'll use every one of them, and you'll use every one of them against me. Don't hold this against me. I've already said I'm sorry. (Tell all your friends about me) Don't hold this against me. I've already said I'm sorry. I hope you choke on every word you spoke when you were screaming at me. And realize how many times I've tried, but that's wishful thinking. All I want is an apology for what you did and how you treated me. Get me far away, or at least as far as this car will take me. I hope you choke on every word you spoke when you were screaming at me. (Get me far away, or at least as far as this car will take me) (Tell all your friends about me) And realize how many times I've tried, but that's wishful thinking. (Get me far away, or at least as far as this car will take me) (Tell all your friends about me) All I want is an apology for what you did and how you treated me. (Get me far away, or at least as far as this car will take me) (Tell all your friends about me) I hope you choke on every word you spoke, I hope you choke on every word you spoke (Get me far away, get me far away...) (Tell all your friends...) Don't hold this against me. I've already said I'm sorry. (Tell all your friends about me) Don't (Tell all your friends about me) hold this against me (Tell all your friends about me) I've already said I'm sorry (Tell all your friends about me)
Title: Why My Chemical Romance is NOT a suicide cult!!!!!!

This video is an ultimate collection of clips proving that My Chemical Romance do not want everyone to kill themselves and are not promoting self harm in their lyrics!!! In May 2008 the Daily Mail wrote two articles called "Why no child is safe from the sinister cult of emo" and "Girl, 13, hangs herself after becoming obsessed with Emo 'suicide cult' rock band" (My Chemical Romance), after Hannah Bond, a 13 year old girl, killed herself. She classed herself as an emo and was a fan of My Chemical Romance. They said that emo "links death with glamour" and that "Emo fans wear dark clothes, practise self-harm and listen to 'suicide cult' rock bands". This is a complete generalisation and a very stereotypical view that shows no research went into really finding out about them. They also said that "One of the foremost of these 'suicide cult' bands is My Chemical Romance" First off, My Chemical Romance has ALWAYS denied being emo and are completely against self harm and suicide. In fact they really want to help you and save your life if you are feeling depressed. The Daily Mail also wrote that when Hannah was discovered with cuts on her arms "she told [her parents] she'd inflicted the wounds herself and that it was part of an emo 'initiation ceremony'". I have never ever heard of this before - an emo initiation ceremony????? They also (ignorantly) said that "the 'black parade' is a place where emos believe they will go when they die". This is ridiculous. The Black Parade is the name of My Chemical Romance's 3rd album. It is not emo heaven. They do not know what they are talking about. I personally believe that many people who are already depressed/suicidal/have tendancies to self harm, may be attracted to My Chemical Romance because, yes, their lyrics do talk about death. But MCR cannot be blamed for these people's problems. They must already have things going on in their life that are making them feel like this - music often HELPS people to cope when they have issues to deal with. I do not own any of the clips but I have only taken small sections, so I hope no one is offended by this.

Wired Ancient Fossil Meets Southwest

por | | 0 comments
Wired Ancient Fossil Meets SouthwestWired ancient fossil meets a little southwest…..I started this design using a midnight black Ammonite Fossil from Madagascar, it shows a nice vein chambers in gray and is handcrafted in non-tarnish silver with coil and supporting wires. The base of the necklace is then created from Arizona Turquoise (stabilized) graduated in raw chips; all reflecting earthy colors of brown, rust, black, cream, green, and hint of blue. Scattered between the turquoises are barrels of Arizona Ivoryite, faceted smoke black crystal rondelles and silver disk spacers. The set includes the matching pair of black Ammonite Fossil earrings.

Wired Ancient Fossil Meets SouthwestThe ammonite’s name comes from the shell’s resemblance to a coiled ram’s horn (the ram being the symbol of the Egyptian god Ammon). Like the extinct belemnites and the living nautiloids, octopuses, squid aWired Ancient Fossil Meets Southwestnd cuttlefish, they belonged to the mollusk group known as the cephalopods. The name comes from the Greek ‘kephale’ (head) and ‘podia’ (foot), referring to the tentacles they have in the head region.

There are many different species of Ammonites; Phylloceras, Psiloceras, Stephanoceras, and Caloceras just to name a few. I haven’t yet identified which group the pendant and earrings are members but they are quite definitely strikingly black ammonites.
