Title: Jim Morrison - Far Arden (with lyrics)
Far Arden - Wilderness (Jim Morrison)
And so I say to you
The silk handkerchief was
Embroidered in China or Japan
Behind the steel curtain
And no one can cross the borderline
without proper credentials.
This is to say that we are all
Sensate and occasionally sad
And if every partner in crime
Were to incorporate promises
In his program the dance
Might end and all our friends
would follow.
Who are our friends?
Are they sullen and slow?
Do they have great desire?
Or are they one of the multitude who
Walk doubting their impossible regret.
Certainly things happen and reoccur
in continuous promise.
All of us have found a safe niche
Where we can store up riches and talk to our fellows
On the same premise of disaster
But this will not do.
No, this will never do.
These are continents and shores which
Beseech our understanding.
Seldom have we been so slow.
Seldom have we been so far.
My only wish is to see
Far Arden again.
The truth is on his chest
The cellular excitement has
Totally inspired our magic Veteran.
And now for an old trip.
I'm tired of thinking.
I want the old forms to reassert their sexual cool.
My mind is just - you know.
And this morning before I sign off
I would like to tell you about Texas Radio & the Big Beat.
It moves into the perimeter of
Your sacred sincere and dedicated smile
Like a calm surviver of the psychic war.
He was no general for he was not old.
He was no private for he could not be sold.
He was only a man and his
Dedication extended to the last degree.
Poor pretentious soldier, come home.
Throughout the ceremony, the bride was marveled at her new husband's inquiries about the different traditional Chinese customs that he kept observing. While removing the palanquin, Steven spotted a saddle and a fire pit in front of him. After a brief hesitation, he asked, "What are these for?" The master of ceremony explained that the saddle symbolized peace as it has the same pronunciation in Chinese as "peace," while the fire pit is to burn bad luck away and brings a bright future.

Surprisingly, the ceremony decor was one of the cheapest items in our budget. The church is already gorgeous, so it didn't need much. Plus, our wedding was the weekend after Easter, so the church was still full of white Easter lilies. The only thing we paid for was a few pew markers made from hydrangeas!

type="html">I did not hire a DJ, and I still regret it a little bit. I chose to go the iPod route to save a little money, and also because I was a bit of a control freak over the playlist. My new brother-in-law stepped in as MC (and was hilarious), and the A/V people at the hotel did a great job working the sound board. But, when it came to the dancing part of the evening, we just set the iPod on shuffle and let it go. The music didn't really follow the mood of the crowd like a professional DJ can, and not as many people stayed on the dance floor. Plus, I downloaded all of the songs off Amazon literally two days before my wedding at about 1 am, which was a bit stressful. That confession aside, let's get to the tunes for the evening:
"Special" Songs The "special" songs, like the first dance and bouquet toss songs, were totally random. There are songs that are special to us, there are songs like I listen to every day at work, and there are songs that we picked out of mid-air.
Press Play on the player below to see and hear the full playlist.
Cocktail Hour and Dinner Songs - Old School Classy Theme For the cocktail hour and dinner hour, I wanted lots of the old classics - Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Fred Astaire, with a few "new classics" mixed in - like Carla Bruni and Joseph Arthur.
Press Play on the player below to see and hear the full playlist.
High Paced "Booty" Music I tried to balance the music on the playlist for the dancing part of the reception between "young people" music and "old people" music, plus favorites for everyone. This is the stuff that grandma could break a hip trying to dance to.
Press Play on the player below to see and hear the full playlist.
Medium Pace / Older Music These are the crowd pleasers, where young and old say "Oh I love this song!" and jump on the dance floor - at least that's the goal.
Press Play on the player below to see and hear the full playlist.
Slow, Lovey Dovey Songs
I have to slow dance with my new husband! I interspersed a few slow songs, so we could have some "couples skate" moments.
Press Play on the player below to see and hear the full playlist.
Cajun Music Since a few people from my Cajun mother's side came to the wedding, I wanted to include some "heritage" songs. This was a huge hit! Even the non-Cajuns in the room loved the songs and all tried to do the waltzes. These were probably the most popular songs of the night.

Those forms for submitting your information on the design pages are now enabled. Response times are back to 2-4 days.
New designs have have added here and there.
The "simple cards" section is now open. 5.5x4.25 inch cards, black ink designs. These can be printed on various types of card stock. Due to recent requests, I did include an option for recycled card stock. http://savethedateoriginals.com/SimpleCards.html
The "etched CDs" section is now available, featuring some photographs of the various colors you can get your images imprinted on. These are blank rewritable CDs. This is a little different than printing on a CD, nor are there labels of any sort involved. http://savethedateoriginals.com/cd_etch.html
I have also added a page to advertise posters. Every once in a while, I receive a request for a movie-style poster for weddings, and so have an example or two of those on the page. This is another one of those products that can be used for a variety of needs, however. http://savethedateoriginals.com/Poster/
A new sample page is available, so that people can order a wider variety of samples and also tailor their sample pack order more clearly towards the product they are interested in. There is a sample pack that is just about what different kinds of card stock you can get a few different products printed on. http://savethedateoriginals.com/Samples.html
In the works:
The invitations page is still under construction. Many thumbnails of possible invitation designs have been added to the invitation page. A few of these images are now "clickable" and will take you to another page that lists some pricing and options.

Title: Phineas and Ferb - Vanessassary Roughness
Vanessa finds it uncomfortable that her dad is still taking her around on his scooter. Dr. Doofenschmirtz arrives at the mall with a long shopping list. Among the items he needs is a capsule of "pizzazium", an extremely rare element (but oddly, commercially viable), the uses of which are currently unknown. Much to the doctor's frustration, the last capsule of pizzazium has been taken by someone else right under his nose. It is later revealed that Baljeet has the capsule which he needs for his science project, with Buford acting as a "wall of meat" to protect it. Vanessa persuades her dad to let her have her own car if she succeeds in retrieving the capsule. Reluctantly, the doctor gives her a pizzazium-locator to aid her in the search.
Mrs. Flynn drives Phineas, Ferb, Candace, Stacy and Perry to the mall. While Mrs. Flynn goes shopping, Candace wants to find the perfect present for Jeremy. Buford carelessly drops the capsule into Candace's hands, which Candace mistakes for a lantern, and keeps it.
After being left alone at the "Park Your Pooch" area, Perry receives a call from Major Monogram, who informs Perry that Dr. Doofenschmirtz is present at the mall trying to buy materials for his next evil scheme. As there are many of Perry's acquaintances around, he puts on a sporty Hawaiian shirt, sunglasses, shoes and remains undetected throughout the caper. Perry steals the capsule from Candace only to drop it later when he bumps into Dr. Doofenschmirtz. The doctor asks him if they have met before.
Ferb is reading when he sees Vanessa approaching the capsule behind his chair. He pushes her out of the aisle, narrowly missing Buford and Baljeet riding a cart who regain the capsule. Candace and Stacy chase after the capsule wearing helmets and rollerblades. Dr. Doofenschmirtz accidentally activates a lawnmover, which joins the party in a humorous and noisy chase all around the mall. Ferb and Vanessa cooperate smoothly, both displaying impressive acrobatic skills. Perry enters a ball launcher, successfully catches up with the others and temporarily gets hold of the capsule before bumping into Dr. Doofenschmirtz once more. Candace, Stacy, Buford and Baljeet end up crashing into a line of shelves. Vanessa swings down the ground floor on a rope of lanterns. She grabs the capsule, but the rope she uses gets caught in the rampaging lawnmower which is stuck at the top of an escalator. The lawnmower is slowly pulling her up the escalator when Ferb swings to her rescue on a fishing rod. Ferb cuts the rope and swiftly disassembles the mower with a Swiss army knife.
Ferb uses the ball launcher to send the capsule flying across the mall, landing near the entrance. As Dr. Doofenschmirtz gleefully picks it up, Perry pulls a detector towards the doctor and the alarm goes off, as the capsule hasn't been paid for. Dr. Doofenschmirtz is accused of shoplifting and dragged away by the security guards. Vanessa thanks Ferb with a kiss on the cheek and runs after her dad. Phineas, who has been sitting on a massaging chair all the time and is completely unaware of everything that happened, shows up next to a dazzled Ferb.
This movie ticket is similar to an older movie ticket design I may have blogged about. The older version was a black ink design printed on a pink card stock.
This new ticket is brighter and bolder. A black and red design printed on a nice sturdy lemon yellow card stock.
These movie ticket save the dates are small, simple and fun. They are 4.25x2.6 inches, and come with white 5x3.5 inch envelopes.
Looking forward to the end of the month and holiday festivities!
The Save the Date Originals 2010 holiday cards are still rolling out. I couldn't decide upon a design this year, and ended up sending out a handful of different cards/magnets/designs.
Much work is to be done on the website over the coming months and year.
Did you know? Shaped cards are now available. Circles, of course, but also ovals, diamonds, sandals, hearts, stars and more. A section with examples will be available at some point in the future.
I hereby vow to have the holiday card section updated with some ideas/examples well before next December.
I love having children at weddings, they bring a life and vitality to the proceedings .. if they're well behaved of course!
Luckily, I haven't come across one badly behaved child in the past 6 years and usually they are lucky enough to have good parents who offer them a lot of love and support.
I have hundreds of lovely images from weddings of children enjoying their day, and there's quite a few on this blog already, but editing a wedding recently I came across this one from last summer that I had forgotten about .. it's a great image from Rick and Deborah's wedding at Crathorne Hall in North Yorkshire
KUWAIT CITY (Aug. 17) - Kuwaiti authorities have apprehended the person suspected of setting fire to a wedding tent and killing 41 people and said Monday the motive was personal. Local newspapers reported the groom's ex-wife was the arsonist.
The inferno Saturday night in the tribal area of al-Jahra, west of Kuwait City, ate up the women's tent in just three minutes and left behind bodies so charred they were unrecognizable. Guests likely crushed one another in a desperate attempt to flee. It was still unclear if the bride had survived.
The alleged arsonist has been identified and "confessed to committing the crime for personal reasons," Interior Ministry spokesman Col. Mohammed al-Saber told state-owned Kuwait television.
Al-Saber's statement made no reference to an ex-wife, and he did not answer telephone calls seeking comment Monday. But Kuwaiti newspapers speculated on the cause of the fire, saying that the groom's former wife was to blame. The headline in the English-language Kuwait Times was "'Scorned' Woman Unleashed Fury."
The independent Al-Qabas daily said the groom's former wife, who is 23 years old, poured gasoline on the tent and lit it because she felt her ex-husband mistreated her when they were married.
A statement Monday from the Interior Ministry carried by the Kuwait News Agency said the perpetrator was in custody, but no name or details were given.
The "final and exact" death toll discussed in a high-level security meeting Monday was 41, said Kuwaiti Fire Department chief, Brig. Gen. Jassem al-Mansouri. Earlier reports Monday had raised the death toll to 43 after two people died overnight from burns. But al-Mansouri said after further investigation authorities determined that only 39 people died during the initial blaze. He said the bodies were so badly burned, it was difficult for investigators to determine how many people perished.
The chief, who described the fire as the worst disaster he's seen in almost four decades of service, said 6 bodies were still unidentified and it was not known if the bride survived the carnage. Fifty-two others injured in the blaze remained in the hospital, the health minister, Hilal al-Sayer, told the TV.
Al-Mansouri and the Interior Ministry declined to comment on the reports accusing the ex-wife of having a role in the fire pending an investigation. Authorities have promised to publicize the full results of the probe.
Kuwaitis celebrate weddings in separate parties for men and women, with children attending the women's event which features singing and dancing and a dinner buffet.
In tribal regions, some hold these parties in tents, a custom rooted in Kuwait's nomadic heritage. In wealthier urban areas, such parties take place in five-star hotels or special halls.
Kuwait's emir, Sheik Sabah Al Ahmed Al Sabah, said that out of sympathy for the victims he will not be receiving the customary well wishers for the advent of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which starts later this week.
As part of the children's activities kits for the wedding reception, I made custom slide puzzles. Remember spending hours trying to solve these as a kid? That's the idea! Keep the kids occupied for as long as possible!
Oriental Trading sells blank slide puzzles here. They cost less than $5 for 24!
Find an image you want to use on your slide puzzle, and crop it on the computer to 2"x2". We used an image of one of our pets, and I added our names and wedding date. The bottom right square (#16) should be blank.
Split the image into 16 squares (4 rows, 4 columns). Number each square 1 - 16. I used Gimp to split the image into 16 layers so they were easy to re-position.
Print out copies of your scrambled image onto full-size sheet labels, then cut them down to size (2"x2"). Attach the image label onto your slide puzzle very carefully, aligning all the squares on the label with the puzzle squares.
With an Exacto knife, cut along the edges of the label squares, so that the puzzle squares are moveable.

CONGRATULATIONS: Ste. and Jar.! Married at Tustin Hills Racquet Club in Santa Ana, CA on 16 May 2010. They first met at a stand-up comedy show...and since they love to laugh, why shouldn't they add a few laughs to one of the most important days of their life together?
One way you can make an occasion your very own is to project your personality/ies through each element of the wedding: from the colours, the venue, the menu and especially the ceremony. The following excerpts are actual examples taken from the ceremony:
"Seven months ago, S.J., Ste. and Jar.'s son, was born. Ever since, he has been their dear little monkey..."
"...may you both enjoy a long life of happiness together, with S...and may you always be like a family of deer crossing a prairie in the sunshine."
You don't have to settle for the usual, less-than-memorable ceremony. Humour does not detract from the seriousness of the commitment being made, nor does it make light of the person or persons being honoured. Your ceremony can, and should be, FUN, if you want it to be! Title: Syd Barrett - Baby Lemonade
Another brand new video, this time of Syd Barrett's 'Baby Lemonade' from his second and final solo album, 'Barrett'. 'Baby Lemonade' was written and recorded by Syd Barrett in 1970 and is the opening track on 'Barrett'. Dave Gilmour and along with Richard Wright produced the album, as well as performing guitar, bass, organ and piano on the album. The album takes a different direction away from the erratic style of 'The Madcap Laughs', with 'Barrett' adapting a more commercial sound, due to the influence of Gilmour and Wright. While 'Barrett' is a much more tighter and focused album, it still contains elements of Syd's bizarre nature.
The recording took less time to produce than 'The Madcap Laughs', and the final album was released in November 1970. Unfortunately, the album sparked no interest and failed to chart. Between 1971 and 1974, Syd Barrett attempted several music projects, including a band in 1972 called 'Stars'. The band was short-lived after only three live performances. In 1974, Syd Barrett recorded for the last time, recording only a few instrumentals before walking away from music forever.
Most of the images used in this video were photographed by Mick Rock in 1970.
I do not own the copyright for the audio or vision. This is a fan edit done under the 'fair use' provision laws.

Title: Laughter Amongst the generations
Sexy Model gives Quotes Vivian Kellie's Quote of the day today's Quote is from Henery David Thoreau Every generation laughs at the old fashions but religiously follows the new Henry Daid Thoreau
Henry David Thoreau (born David Henry Thoreau; July 12, 1817 May 6, 1862)[1] was an American author, poet, naturalist, tax resister, development critic, surveyor, historian, philosopher, and leading transcendentalist. He is best known for his book Walden, a reflection upon simple living in natural surroundings, and his essay, Civil Disobedience, an argument for individual resistance to civil government in moral opposition to an unjust state.
Thoreau's books, articles, essays, journals, and poetry total over 20 volumes. Among his lasting contributions were his writings on natural history and philosophy, where he anticipated the methods and findings of ecology and environmental history, two sources of modern day environmentalism. His literary style interweaves close natural observation, personal experience, pointed rhetoric, symbolic meanings, and historical lore; while displaying a poetic sensibility, philosophical austerity, and "Yankee" love of practical detail.[2] He was also deeply interested in the idea of survival in the face of hostile elements, historical change, and natural decay; at the same time imploring one to abandon waste and illusion in order to discover life's true essential needs.[2]
He was a lifelong abolitionist, delivering lectures that attacked the Fugitive Slave Law while praising the writings of Wendell Phillips and defending abolitionist John Brown. Thoreau's philosophy of civil disobedience influenced the political thoughts and actions of such later figures as Leo Tolstoy, Mahatma Gandhi, and Martin Luther King, Jr.
Thoreau is sometimes cited as an individualist anarchist.[3] Though Civil Disobedience calls for improving rather than abolishing government "I ask for, not at once no government, but at once a better government"[4] the direction of this improvement aims at anarchism: "'That government is best which governs not at all;' and when men are prepared for it, that will be the kind of government which they will have."[4]

Headlam Hall, one of the premier exclusive use wedding venues in the north of England, based in Teesdale has been awarded its fourth star by the AA in its most recent inspection.
Headlam Hall is a great venue, made even better by the quality of its staff, and was the wedding venue for Rhoanne and Andrew's wedding recently that I photographed, and also was the choice for Rachel and Jonathan's wedding recently.
The 17th century property, which has recently opened a new restaurant, refitted the hotels main kitchens, and refurbished the bedrooms in the Halls Coach House, is the first four star hotel in Teesdale.
Managing Director Thomas Robinson said he was proud of the hotels 4-star award.
We are delighted that the AA has recognised the investment in facilities and hospitality we have undertaken here at Headlam over the last few years, and it is a testament to the hard work and dedication of all the staff at Headlam Hall, Spa and Golf that we have been awarded the 4-stars.
Dedication of the staff indeed .. well done to all
