Another matching invitation set

por | | 0 comments

This post is about another matching save the date & invitation idea. My customer was looking for invitations that matched the save the dates she had ordered earlier; Her save the dates cards were based on one of the popular 4.25x5.5 inch designs from the website. The design is a simple one, with a small swirly graphic being the main feature.

Design on the website:

Her invitation set is printed on a basic white card stock, black ink. The set is a 5x7 inch main invitation card, a 5x3.5 inch card rsvp card, and a 5.5x4.25 inch directions card.

CLAIRE AND JAMIE'S PRE-WEDDING PORTRAITS ON THE BEACH

CLAIRE AND JAMIE'S PRE-WEDDING PORTRAITS ON THE BEACH
CLAIRE AND JAMIE'S PRE-WEDDING PORTRAITS ON THE BEACH
Claire and Jamie are being married at Redworth Hall, a wedding venue near Darlington in County Durham this week and I spent some time with them a few weeks ago to have a chat about their big day and get to know them a little more.

I hadn't seen them since we met almost a year ago with their parents when I was pitching to be their official photographer at their wedding.

We got on well then, and I enjoyed being with their family as well, so it was good to hook up again and talk life, love and weddings.....

Jamie had injured his ankle, so I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have been too happy being dragged across the sand dunes and beach - but he took it in good heart and spirit, and Claire just laughed!

A pre-wedding portrait session gives my brides and grooms and myself a chance to bond a little so that when it comes to the wedding day, we're not strangers and they and their families will be confident that I can record the biggest day of their lives and create some lovely photographs at the same time!

I hope you enjoy a few of the images we created on our walk on the coast near Hartlepool - look out for a selection of their wedding photographs next week!

WEDDING: Outdoor Ceremony at the Clubhouse in La Mirada, CA

por | | 0 comments

CONGRATULATIONS: Shonna and Danny!

This ceremony focused on the importance of family, and celebrated the coming together of two wonderful families. There was also a special tribute included, honouring the bride's dog Ginger, who had to be euthanized the week before the wedding:

At this time of coming together, it is also a time of transition and change in Danny and Shonna’s lives, but one constant, unfortunately, is no longer here with us. Therefore, before we continue, we must take a moment to pay a very special tribute to a very special dog. Ginger came into Shonna’s life when Shonna was just nine years old. She was just the most amazing dog Shonna had ever come in contact with, and she was the one, at least until Danny, to provide Shonna with unconditional love, loyalty and companionship. Ginger will be missed more than anyone can imagine.

The entire affair was run, seemingly single-handedly, by Natalie at LA MIRADA GOLF COURSE. She is a truly hands-on coordinator, whether it involves shuttling guests and wedding parties, or laying down the runner before the ceremony started. A beautiful string duet was played by Missy and Nancy of ___________. Photography (but not photo below) provided by ____________.

What a great day I had photographing Gill and Tim's lovely wedding at The Bowes Museum and their wedding breakfast overlooking the most fantastic views of Teesdale.

They were always enthusiastic about relaxed, chilled out photography to document their great wedding celebrations, but I also managed to grab a few minutes with them at Bowes Museum to produce some stylish images.

The rest of the day allowed me to capture the fun and ambience of their wedding in a magnificent historic building and onward to an amazing marquee setting for ch
ampagne, and great food by specialist caterer Alexander MacMurray with some excellent speeches from family and friends.

The Picture Gallery in The Bowes Museum is an amazing setting for any wedding - especially so if you are looking for a different type of wedding venue. Aileen Risbey, who co-ordinated the wedding and her colleagues did a great job, while the eight magnificent floral displays by Grace Hunter of Darlington Flower Club were quite unbelievable in their scale.

Gill looked fabulous on the day and had a great time with her close friends and relatives while Tim and his brothers looked extremely smart in their top hats and tails.

If you would like me to photograph your wedding at BOWES MUSEUM, in a relaxed, professional and natural observational way, with no bother or hassle or stress, then ring me now to check your date for late 2010, 2011 or 2012. Happy Holidays!

por | | 0 comments

Looking forward to the end of the month and holiday festivities!

The Save the Date Originals 2010 holiday cards are still rolling out. I couldn't decide upon a design this year, and ended up sending out a handful of different cards/magnets/designs.

Happy Holidays!

Much work is to be done on the website over the coming months and year.

Did you know? Shaped cards are now available. Circles, of course, but also ovals, diamonds, sandals, hearts, stars and more. A section with examples will be available at some point in the future.

I hereby vow to have the holiday card section updated with some ideas/examples well before next December.

OPINION: Officiants, Photographers and Other Vendors Need to Communicate!

por | | 0 comments

My brother sent me an email the other day:
Hi~!
How goes?
So the last couple weddings I went to, this happened (pics attached)...This is my view of the ceremony...  "WedB" is the kiss...  Does this happen a lot?

Thanks,
~  K

The email made me think about the dozens of postings i have seen online and on Twitter, written by photogs who all passive-aggressively exclaim something similar to: "Hey, minister/reverend/officiant/clergyperson!  You should've gotten out of the way when the couple kissed at the end of the ceremony!" [BTW WedB is this one --->  ]

Was a shot ruined because the officiant was standing in between a kissing couple?  Possibly.  Undoubtedly, however, the guests attending a ceremony will be disappointed if their view is blocked by a less-thoughtful photog, videog, or anyone, really...

And so, dear Event Professional, on behalf of most confident, experienced and well-adjusted officiants, I encourage you to approach whoever is leading the ceremony you are working or documenting, and discuss where you would like for us to stand at which point in the ceremony...because we want you to capture the ceremony as much as you want to!  And tell us where you plan to be, as well.

Yes, this officiant WILL move out of the way for photographers... [but only if the photographer returns the kindness.  :)  Just kidding.]  Let's work together to create and record unforgettable, positive memories for our clients!  Thank you very much.

A Non-Denominational Ceremony: Modern Officiant & Certified Life-Cycle Celebrant® in Orange County, Los Angeles, Inland Empire, Palm Springs, Ojai, Ventura, Catalina Island, Big Bear/Lake Arrowhead and greater Southern California for your wedding, funeral/memorial/celebration of life, pet/animal, new child or baby, business, divorce, retirement, transition, ribbon cutting, deployment, rite of passage or any public or private occasion or event.
