Recap: Good Night and Good Luck

por | | 0 comments

We had danced, smashed cake in each other's faces, and tossed a bouquet and a garter. Show's over folks! Months before I had made these petal toss cones, plus ordered fresh rose petals from FiftyFlowers.com. As we went to hide by the bar, the day-of coordinators ushered everyone outside and gave them cones filled with petals.

(866).jpg

Those baskets were only $3 a pop at a World Market that was closing!

(966).jpg

I love the pictures of our reception exit - they're dramatic and exciting!

(968).jpg

Since we had drunk the bar out of champagne, we chose to exit with matching beers. I tried my best to keep my eyes somewhat open while we were running the gauntlet, but it's hard with thousands of petals flying at you!

Title: Kristen Stewart & Taylor Lautner Looking Good In Rome - Fashion Recap

http://Twitter.com/ClevverTV - Follow Us!

Ciao Bellas - We've got your Italian Fashion recap from the Twilight Front - keep watching!

The Eclipse world tour is in full effect and ClevverTV is tracking the entire trek. Hey guys - I'm Joslyn Davis with a quick look at how two of your favorite Twilight Saga stars kept things fashionable in one of the style centers of the world.

After all, when in Rome, you must do as the Romans - and that's just what Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner did in the Italian city.

Taylor looked to be his usually stylish self, wearing black pants and shoes, with a tan-colored button up shirt and a denim motorcycle jacket. He has that chic edgy look down to a T.

Of course K-stew stole the show in her vamped up daytime look. The megastar choice a gorgeous, and very feminine black dress, with mesh straps. She paired the frock with a great go-to item - the black peep toe pumps.

Great looks for both stars. We're guessing this is just the beginning of what's sure to be a culmination of amazing fashion. After all, the red carpet is the best runway in the world. Give us your Eclipse style review right now.

For more fashion news, head over to facebook.com/clevverTV and hit that like button. I'm Joslyn Davis in Beverly Hills - we'll see you next time right here on ClevverTV.

Sponsored Post: AccuWeather.com for Your Wedding

por | | 0 comments

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of AccuWeather. All opinions are 100% mine.

I'm less than six weeks away from my wedding, and more than ever, I'm starting to worry about the weather. Will it be too hot? Too cold? Will it rain? Will we have a freak blizzard in April in Texas and have to postpone our wedding?  OK that last one probably won't happen.  I didn't say my worries were rational!

AccuWeather recently redesigned their website, so I checked it out to calm my weather worries.

When we got engaged over a year ago, I knew I had to have perfect weather for my wedding.  That's quite a tall order in Texas. Walking outside in the summer "wedding season" in 100 degree weather leaves you drenched with sweat and wanting to take a shower every 10 minutes. I was honestly worried our guests from the Northeast would faint from the heat!  Not a pretty picture on your wedding day.

The most beautiful month in Texas is April. Check out those balmy temperatures from the Travel section on AccuWeather.com. This is exactly the reason we had such a long engagement: we had to get married in April!

During the week leading up to the wedding, I will be religiously checking the AccuWeather iPhone app to get updates on temperatures and precipitation. Fingers crossed I don't have to pull out my rain boots to go under my wedding dress!

Title: Jim Morrison - Far Arden (with lyrics)

Far Arden - Wilderness (Jim Morrison)

And so I say to you
The silk handkerchief was
Embroidered in China or Japan
Behind the steel curtain
And no one can cross the borderline
without proper credentials.
This is to say that we are all
Sensate and occasionally sad
And if every partner in crime
Were to incorporate promises
In his program the dance
Might end and all our friends
would follow.
Who are our friends?
Are they sullen and slow?
Do they have great desire?
Or are they one of the multitude who
Walk doubting their impossible regret.
Certainly things happen and reoccur
in continuous promise.
All of us have found a safe niche
Where we can store up riches and talk to our fellows
On the same premise of disaster
But this will not do.
No, this will never do.
These are continents and shores which
Beseech our understanding.
Seldom have we been so slow.
Seldom have we been so far.
My only wish is to see
Far Arden again.
The truth is on his chest
The cellular excitement has
Totally inspired our magic Veteran.
And now for an old trip.
I'm tired of thinking.
I want the old forms to reassert their sexual cool.
My mind is just - you know.
And this morning before I sign off
I would like to tell you about Texas Radio & the Big Beat.
It moves into the perimeter of
Your sacred sincere and dedicated smile
Like a calm surviver of the psychic war.
He was no general for he was not old.
He was no private for he could not be sold.
He was only a man and his
Dedication extended to the last degree.
Poor pretentious soldier, come home.

BELLE BRIDAL WEDDING MAGAZINE ISSUE TWO FEATURES RACHEL'S WEDDING

por | | 0 comments

BELLE BRIDAL WEDDING MAGAZINE ISSUE TWO FEATURES RACHEL'S WEDDING
BELLE BRIDAL WEDDING MAGAZINE ISSUE TWO FEATURES RACHEL'S WEDDING
It's great to have Issue 2 of Belle Bridal magazine in my hands this week.

I helped them distribute their wedding magazine at the UK Wedding Show at Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle a week or so ago to raise £250+ for breast cancer research with publisher Karen Bell of Inka Publishing.

It was a very busy couple of hours while I helped them raise the money and the enthusiasm from the public was infectious!

I have Rachel and Jonathan's wedding at Headlam Hall featured in the magazine this issue, but I have to say that it very much looks like a national bridal magazine rather than an inferior regional magazine, and we should all be proud that it is designed and published in Sunderland.

The magazine is packed full of information and wedding vendors for North East brides - from The Borders and Northumberland down to North Yorkshire and beyond - highly recommended!

Custom Wedding Aisle Runner for Ufuoma

por | | 0 comments

I just adore the custom aisle runner I recently finished up for Ufuoma's wedding.   She showed me her beautiful bouquet and we added plumerias to the design in her purple and fuchsia color palette.  The poem at the back of the runner is accented with a smaller flourish that compliments the design around the names.  We also did a small banner for one of her page boys to carry before she enters.  So thrilled with the way this order came out!

WEDDING: Vietnamese Rituals

por | | 0 comments

Traditional Vietnamese wedding rituals and customs are a mixture of native and Chinese cultures and are strongly influenced by Confucian morality. Their purposes are to ensure the conjugal happiness for the couple and to form close relations between two families.

The groom comes to the bride’s house with an elder of his family who has had a happy family life to pay homage to the ancestors of the bride’s family and to pay respect to her parents. Then the bride is taken before the ancestral altar of her husband’s family where she will be “introduced” to her husband’s ancestors’ spirits as the new family member. After that, the couple will share a cup of rice wine and a small dish of steamed sticky rice as a promise to share happiness as well as hardship.

After the ceremony is over, there is usually a wedding party with the presence of members of both families and some family friends to celebrate the union of not only the couple but also the two families.

Title: Wedding party of vietnamese

Wedding is very important to Vietnamese, not only to the couple involved, but also for both families. Thus, it is usually including quite a few formal ritual observances. The Wedding day is usually chosen well in advance by the groom and the bride's parents (in the old time, it is not necessarily Saturday or Sunday, as well as they believe it is good based on the groom and the bride's age).

Depending on habits of specific ethnic groups, marriage includes various steps and related procedures, but generally there are two main ceremonies:

Le an hoi (betrothal ceremony): Some time before the wedding, the groom and his family visit the bride and her family with round lacquered boxes known as betrothal presents composed of gifts of areca nuts and betel leaves, tea, cake, fruits, wines and other delicacies covered with red cloth and carried by unmarried girls or boys. Both families agree to pick a good day for wedding.

Le cuoi (wedding ceremony): Guests would be invited to come to join a party and celebrate the couples happiness. The couple should pray before the altar asking their ancestors for permission for their marriage, then to express their gratitude to both grooms and brides parents for raising and protecting them. Guests will share their joy at a party later.

On the wedding day, the groom's family and relatives go to the bride's house bringing a lot of gifts wrapped in red papers. These gifts are similar to those of the engagement: betel leaves and areca nuts, wines, fruits, cakes, tea ... Those who hold these trays are also carefully chosen, usually they are happily married couples. Ladies and women are all dressed in Ao Dai. Men could be in their suits or men traditional Ao Dai. The troop are usually led by a couple that is most wealthy and successful among the relatives, this means to wish the to-be-wed couples a blessing life together in the future.

The groom's family would stop in the font of the bride's house. The leading couple should enter the house first bringing a tray with wine and tiny cups on it. They would invite the bride's parents to take a sip. By accepting the toast, the bride's family agree for the groom family to enter their house. The firework is immediately fired to greet the groom's family.

The groom's family would introduce themselves and ask permission for their son to marry his bride. The Master of the Ceremony (usually a respected person among the bride's relatives) instructs the bride's parents to present their daughter. The bride then follows her parents out. She is in Vietnamese traditional wedding Ao Dai which is usually in red. Followed are her bride maids. The wedding ceremony starts in front of the altar. The bride and the groom would kneel down and pray, asking their ancestors' permission to be married, also asking for blessing on their family-to-be. The couple then turn around and bow down to the bride's parents to say thank for raising and protecting her since birth. They then bow their head to each other, which means to show their gratitude and respect toward their soon-to-be husband or wife. The Master of the Ceremony would gave the wedding couple advices on starting a new family. The groom and the bride's parents would take turn to share their experience and give blessing. The groom and the bride then exchange their wedding rings. The parents will give the newly wedded value gifts such as golden bracelets, ear rings, necklace... The ceremony is ended with a round applause.

Today, a lot of Vietnamese couples have their wedding ceremony done in Temples or Churches which is very much similar to American and Western style, including exchanging vows and wedding rings. However, they still maintain Vietnamese traditional ceremony in the bride's home before heading to temples or churches.

A wedding banquet is scheduled in the evening at a hotel or a big restaurant. It is always a delight feast that all relatives, friends, and neighbors are invited. A music band is usually hired to play live songs.

At the banquet, the groom, bride, and their family are once again introduced to the guests and everyone will drink a toast. Dinner will be served at the tables.

During the reception, the groom, bride, and their parents will stop by each table to say thank to their guests. The guest in return, will give envelopes containing wedding cards and money gifts to the newly wedded couples along with their blessing. A lot of weddings nowadays are followed by a dancing party, which is opened by the groom and the bride's first dance. The party does not recess until very late at night. The newly wedded couples then leave for their honey moon.

BEAMISH HALL THE WEDDING VENUE FOR ANNA AND NEIL

Anna and Neil - what a great couple, but I nearly didn't photograph their great family wedding at Beamish Hall Hotel.

I had a phone call and an e-mail about the same time to the office. It was another plea for help from a bride who had been 'let down' by another photographer, and their wedding was in 8 weeks time. Could I help?

Of course I could. Luckily, because I cover only 20-25 weddings a year, I have availability through the year in different weeks and months. It's great for me and for my brides, it means that I can concentrate on each bride and groom and wedding as individuals, you're not on a production line, you're not just another bride and groom!

I digress ... so, Anna and Neil, who had met in India while working, and who had settled in Essex and Kent decided they wanted to get married in the north east where Anna had family and thought that Beamish Hall would be a great location - too right, especially when their's was the only wedding on that day!

They had already decided from looking at my images on this BLOG and my website, that I was the guy for them! So, they paid a deposit the same day and we hooked up 3 weeks later when they were visiting the area.

We got on famously ... we did some photographs together, with Anna's mum at Beamish Hall as they made their last minute arrangement s and we dashed across to the Angel of the North to get some photographs there that would be suitable for using in their place settings on the BIG day!

So, on Sunday, we met for the second time - their great wedding celebrations at Beamish Hall. The hairdresser had dragged Anna from her bed at 7am, so I didn't feel too bad about things when I arrived on site about 9.30am to catch up with the madness and mayhem.

But it was all chilled out, all fun and games and Anna was the most laid back person there!

Neil, however, in texts and phone calls to me the day before, was in turmoil, bless him, so when he turned up in his father-in-law's Jaguar, he did look a little pasty faced!

He soon settled into the day with his brothers and friends and best man greeting him and letting him know that there was a van full of tissues for when he started crying with emotion of the day - it took about 20 seconds for the first sniffle!

Back upstairs, Anna was about to get into her dress with the help of mum and her friends. It was a fabulous Ian Stuart Bridal dress from Wild Brides in Sunderland and she looked stunning!

I had to worry Neil even more when I saw him soon after and told him he might need a paramedic when he saw Anna coming down the aisle in THAT dress!

Even the civil ceremony was full of fun and laughter, and I was able to get friends and relatives to join in the fun as I took a shot from the balcony in the main hall which Anna and Neil had requested.

Reception started with a demonstration from the guys who run the Birds of Prey Conservation Centre at Beamish which was very different to other weddings, and allowed us to get outside and have more fun with some stunning birds of prey and grab a few important family photos with mums and dads and grandparents for a few minutes.

Inside, the speeches were shoRt and to the point and fun, the chefs excelled themselves with the wedding breakfast and were stunned to be rewarded by Neil with drinks all ound for the kitchen staff - they couldn't remember the last time that had ever happended to them - but it shows the sort of people that Neil and Anna are.

Anna and I and Neil managed to get 10 minutes to ourselves finally as we headed back outside and got some well deserved fresh air - and even theough it was overcast and grey, we created some fun photos together.

The evening reception was already underway and as the first dance loomed, I reflected on what a great day it had been. Full of fun and laughter, chilled out and relaxed.

Just the day that Anna and Neil had ordered!

I hope you enjoy this sneak peak of photographs from their great day ..
