http://www.WeddingsByLance.com - Lance describes a great but little know outdoor Arlington Wedding Ceremony Location the Carillon Bells Monument. A gift from the Netherlands to the people of the United States, this bell tower stands atop a hill, between two monuments - Arlington Cemetary and the Iwo Jima Memorial and overlooking the Lincoln, Washington, and Jefferson Memorials as well as the US Capitol with views of the National Cathedral. You just don't get a much better Washington DC/VA Wedding location. Lance is a Va and DC wedding officiant.

Extra informational cards

A nice save the date design often doesn't leave room for a block of text (like hotel information).

There are a few ways to go about adding more hefty information. One way might be to go with a folded card, printed on the front with a nice color design, and on the inside with a more down-to-business block of information.

Another way is to include an extra little card. This is the best option for those sending out a save the date magnet; Getting a small inexpensive card to include in the envelope.

Check out the example below. A fun 4.1x2.6 inch save the date magnet, a 5x3.5 inch envelope, and a small card with more information.

Our Wedding Soundtrack - My iPod Music Playlist

type="html">I did not hire a DJ, and I still regret it a little bit.  I chose to go the iPod route to save a little money, and also because I was a bit of a control freak over the playlist.  My new brother-in-law stepped in as MC (and was hilarious), and the A/V people at the hotel did a great job working the sound board.  But, when it came to the dancing part of the evening, we just set the iPod on shuffle and let it go.  The music didn't really follow the mood of the crowd like a professional DJ can, and not as many people stayed on the dance floor.  Plus, I downloaded all of the songs off Amazon literally two days before my wedding at about 1 am, which was a bit stressful. That confession aside, let's get to the tunes for the evening:

Download the full song spreadsheet here

"Special" Songs
The "special" songs, like the first dance and bouquet toss songs, were totally random. There are songs that are special to us, there are songs like I listen to every day at work, and there are songs that we picked out of mid-air.

Press Play on the player below to see and hear the full playlist.

Cocktail Hour and Dinner Songs - Old School Classy Theme
For the cocktail hour and dinner hour, I wanted lots of the old classics - Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Fred Astaire, with a few "new classics" mixed in - like Carla Bruni and Joseph Arthur.

Press Play on the player below to see and hear the full playlist.

High Paced "Booty" Music
I tried to balance the music on the playlist for the dancing part of the reception between "young people" music and "old people" music, plus favorites for everyone. This is the stuff that grandma could break a hip trying to dance to.

Press Play on the player below to see and hear the full playlist.

Medium Pace / Older Music
These are the crowd pleasers, where young and old say "Oh I love this song!" and jump on the dance floor - at least that's the goal.

Press Play on the player below to see and hear the full playlist.

Slow, Lovey Dovey Songs

I have to slow dance with my new husband! I interspersed a few slow songs, so we could have some "couples skate" moments.

Press Play on the player below to see and hear the full playlist.

Cajun Music
Since a few people from my Cajun mother's side came to the wedding, I wanted to include some "heritage" songs. This was a huge hit! Even the non-Cajuns in the room loved the songs and all tried to do the waltzes. These were probably the most popular songs of the night.

Press Play on the player below to see and hear the full playlist.

Dragonfly, summer/spring theme

Another invitation set! Even though I only post the invitations that I think have a "point of interest" (interesting feature, idea, layout, new design, or something else that is new and otherwise not depicted already on the website), it's just the time of the year for invitations.

This set of invitations was also a customer's idea for a variation on one of the website's designs.

The save the date magnets they ordered were a variation of this design from the website:

Because there are not any matching invitation designs on the website, their idea was to take this 4x8 inch invitation design from the website:
http://savethedateoriginals.com/InvitationPages/Invitation21.html

...and modify to include dragonflies instead of bees.

Title: Let's Play Spyro: YOTD, pt. 1: "Intro & Sunrise Spring (1/2)"

NOTE: YouTube killed the frame rate.

Okay, lemme explain. I had intentions of buying the game from all the rumours of being the 'best Spyro game ever made.' Ever since my love for this awesome series kicked back up (long story), I've been heading down a nostalgic road, playing old PS1 games of the series I was never capable of enjoying in my earlier years. I picked a used copy up at a store the day my summer started, just to keep myself busy for the ten weeks of boredom.

Unfortunately, I never knew that I'd beat the entire game 117% within a course of 24 hours...And that's where this footage comes in!

So, with the only Spyro prowess I have off the GBA spinoffs (and that piece of crap Enter the Dragonfly), I take a crack at a true classic: Spyro 3: Year of the Dragon!

I also drag my friend Shadowrunner240, and my beloved sister, Sakriphice, along for the fun! The three of us little game-crazy girls talk of the strangest things in this series...Yes I am filming my TV. It's the only option I got... and some of the screen gets cut off sometimes, but that shouldn't really matter, right? ^^;

Anyways, here's Episode 1. We start off with a cutscene, explaining how evil that Sorceress and her apprentice are for taking all the eggs and whatnot. We begin in the home world Sunrise Spring, where we adjust to controls, look around for a bit, and even pick up some gems, and the occasional egg...

WEDDING: At Seven Degrees in Laguna Beach, CA

Congratulations, Jeanie and Eric!

This ceremony took place at one of my favourite venues in Orange County: SEVEN DEGREES.
Any time a proposal story is unusual and fun, it can be included in the text and told as part of the ceremony:

"The proposal was an interesting experience. Jeanie and Eric had been together for over three years, when they decided to take a trip to Hong Kong for Jeanie’s birthday. Prior to this, they had discussed the issue of marriage, but never really went into detail about it.

In Hong Kong, they eventually ended up in a jewelry store as part of a city tour. A
sales associate began showing them rings, and dropping hints to Eric about how
he should be looking for one. Eric appeared uninterested. Jeanie, being the beautiful emotional person she is, left the store in tears, feeling hurt and thinking Eric didn't want to ever consider marriage. Meanwhile, Eric chased Jeanie around the streets of Hong Kong, and then they finally returned to the hotel. As Jeanie sobbed about how Eric didn't want to marry her, he pulled out a ring from his suitcase and said, “I was going to wait until your birthday tomorrow to ask you, but now that you're going to be like this, I guess I'll ask you now.” He had already asked Jeanie’s mother for
permission, and so he got down on one knee and proposed!"

The bride wore a beautiful antique lace dress, and there were seven bridesmaids and seven groomsmen. The groom is the guitar player in the local band PLASTIC PILL. Appropriately enough, the groom cake was in the shape of a sunburst Les Paul guitar! The Seven Degrees staff was first-rate, led by wedding director/coordinator Alyssa (Alissa?). Stop Your Wedding Website from Showing Up On Google

We've all seen Wedding Crashers and we all have the same fear: some random person out there will stumble across my wedding website, get all the info, and show up at my wedding for free booze and crab cakes. No thank you!

If you can upload files to your wedding website's server, you can prevent your site from showing up on Google and other search engines.

In Notepad or some other text editor, create a file called robots.txt with two lines:

User-agent: *
Disallow: /

Upload the file to the top-level directory of your wedding website (wherever your front page is, usually called index.html).

That's all you need to do to prevent your wedding website from showing up in Google search results like ours did!
