Title: Kurt and Carrie Beach Wedding - North Captiva

http://northcaptiva.com
Carrie and Kurt were married in May 2010 on the beach just outside 163-Pelican Pointe at the North Captiva Island Club Resort. It was an intement setting with just the 2 of them along with the Minister and his wife. The water behind them was the Gulf of Mexico where it meets Captiva Pass. Afterwards it was a romantic golf cart limo ride to the Boat House Restaurant for a beautiful dinner prepared by Chef David and served by Andrew. Congratulations Carrie and Kurt. Baptism Invitations

por | | 0 comments

A baptism is a special and spiritual event, one to share with family. This post is about a baptism invitation I worked on recently.

Baptism Invitations

We have a simple text-based design in dark navy, printed on a cream linen card stock, with rounded corners. The invitation itself is the popular size for small and economical invitations- 4.25x5.5 inches. To add something special, though, the couple included a 2.6x4.1 inch magnetic favor of their adorable baby boy.

This set is still light enough that it can be mailed out with a regular stamp.

The Crab and Lobster and Crab Manor Hotel at Asenby near Topcliffe in North Yorkshire has always been a popular wedding venue with brides and grooms who didn't want a 'corporate' wedding.

Something a bit different, something a bit quirky if you will, and over the past couple of years I've covered a number of weddings at this country house near Thirsk.

Fay and Nick certainly wanted somethinga bit different, and once they had visited Crab Manor, they knw it was the place for them!

I met with Fay and her mum Pauline and Fay's Gran about 18 months or so ago and talked about their forthcoming day. It was memorable for me as her Gran had made a beautiful cake and along with a cup or two of tea, it was like we were all old friends by the time I left!

Luckily for me, Fay and her mum and gran were convinced, so I guess Nick only needed a little arm twisting to sign me up as the official photographer for their wedding celebrations.

The pre-wedding shoot went well during a sunny evening at Hartlepool Marina about 8 weeks before the day - this hour or two is a great time for us to get to know each other again, often we have not seen each other for a year, sometimes two, so we chat about the day and talk about how plans are shaping up and then take a few photographs too (Join me on Facebook to see some of the photographs from their pre-wedding portaits HERE).

So, the great day arrived and I was down to North Yorkshire early on the day, even though the wedding wasn't until 3.30pm It's always nice to be on site, get settled, get my bearings and meet up with the bride as things start to come together!

There were plenty of laughs as Fay and her mum and best friends got to work to finish dressing the room with some last minute touches and the florist was finishing things off. There were lots of photographs to be had of course as the girls were getting ready - and it was good to see that the famous 'Sasquatch' or 'Yeti' was still in his usual place at the top of the stairs.

An early guest was trying to persuade me to give away the 'secret' location of the beer barrel in the main house, which is for the use of the (mainly) male guests during the day and evening!

Nick arrived about 1.30pm with his best man and went in search of his friends at The Crab and Lobster terrace - and while they were already ordering a pint to steady their nerves, Nick was trying to get a print out of his speech after deciding that maybe it was a bit risky having his speech to read ONLY off his iPhone!

The small conservatory at The Crab and Lobster seats about 35 people, so often guests have to stand at the back too when the ceremony is on, or even stand outside on the lawn and listen to the proceedings - very pleasant on a VERY, VERY warm day. It was so sticky and warm, and it didn't let up at all during the celebrations.

The ceremony was over in a sprint and all the guests along with Fay and Nick spilled out onto the lawns for some welcome refreshments!

The last thing I ever do is start hearding people into groups, my plan is always to let everyone chill out and relax and have a few glasses of champagne and canapes for an hour or so , grab a couple of 'essential' small groups with mums and dads and grandads and grandmas in a five minute spell.

I then wait until after the wedding breakfast and speeches to gather up those other important relatives and guests and spend another five minutes cracking jokes with them all as we get some more group shots, but 95% of all my images at a wedding are all informal and relaxed, showing the happiness and fun of the wedding celebrations. Nothing stiff or formal at all.

Fay's dad got his speech out of the way as soon as the reception started and once pudding and coffee had been served, we all piled out onto the terrace for the speeches by Nick and the best man - both drawing wild applause!

Time to grab the bride and groom for 10 minutes as it was now close to 8pm and the evening guests arriving. Neither Nick or Faye particularly enjoy having their photographs taken, so a quick ten minutes was probably more than they could bare, but I made it quick and we headed back to get the cake cutting and the first dance - or the first shuffle as they put it before some more upbeat tunes filled the dancefloor with their friends and relatives!

It was a great day for Fay and Nick, a day of happiness and fun and relaxation for their families and as I headed up the A19 back north "I got a Feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas was still ringing in my ears!

I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THIS 'SNEEK PEEK' AT FAY AND NICK'S WEDDING. WHEN THEY RETURN FROM HONEYMOON, THEY WILL SEND OUT THE PASSWORD AND WEB ADDRESS TO VIEW ALL OF THE IMAGES TAKEN ON THE DAY.............

If you would like me to photograph your wedding at The Crab and Lobster, in a relaxed, professional and natural way, with no bother or hassle or stress, then ring me now to check your date for 2010, 2011 or 2012.

Custom Peacock Feather Aisle Runner for Jess

por | | 0 comments
Jess had contacted me for a custom aisle runner with a peacock design to incorporate with their wedding theme.  She wanted their initials with lush and colorful peacock feathers and I did a couple of design proposals for her with those elements.  We tweaked the design just a little bit and finally finished with this beautiful peacock aisle runner.

Iain and Louise are fun loving people ...... they love nothing but a good laugh and knew they didn't want to be stood around posing all day during their wedding celebrations - they would rather be with their friends and relatives having a great time - ideal for my style of photography.

We had a ball at their wedding at Jesmond Dene House Hotel in Newcastle.

I first met with them and their parents at the wedding venue when they were meeting with other photographer - they were there for Sunday lunch and to interview wedding photographers - no pressure then! Luckily for me, as I had travelled from another wedding in Leeds the previous day, they already said that they loved my work - and just wanted to make sure that I was the kind of man they could get on with.

I must have impressed all of the six strong interviewing panel and Iain rang me while I was in Barcelona the following week to say that he and Louise wanted me to be their official photographer - even though it was 2 years and months away!

We kept in contact throughout, at the time Iain and louise were working in Dublin, Ireland but all their plans centred around working and living back in Newcastle when their wedding took place.

I took some lovely pre-wedding portraits of them in Jesmond Dene a few months before the wedding and it was just like meeting old friends - relaxed and enjoyable, so when their wedding date finally arrived on 19th December, I was really looking forward to it!

I popped into Jesmond Dene House Hotel a few hours before the start of the ceremony - just to say Hello to Louise before things got going and she was already made up and raring to go, if not a little nervous!

Iain on the other hand was in a local pub to settle his nerves with some of his best friends, but I knew he was nervous. I dashed back up to the hotel and started taking some photographs of Louise in her Vera Wang dress she bought in Dublin and before long the registrar was ready to go, Iain was on site and the wedding was go ..

The cermony was short and sweet but fun, in the grand hall of the old schoolhouse at this exclusive use wedding venue and although light levels in winter are always low, the ambiance of the lights and the candles and high ceilings make for a very atmospheric venue, it just takes a bit of experience to create the right images.

After, the giant Jenga, giant Connect 4 got the guests in the mood for the fun to come and gave me an opportunity to grab some relaxed family groups and 10 minutes with the bride and groom before the reception. The cake was something to behold and created by Iain's brother, Anthony who is Head Chef at the famous Pumphouse Hotel in Durham. 110 individual cakes with a biscuit base, filled with chocolate mouse and spray painted and decorated - heaven!

The fun really started with the evening reception where party games were the mainstay of the fun - from musical chairs, statues and an amazing, frantic game of space hopper races really put the fun into a great day of celebration for Iain and Louise - they had such a great day with their nearest family and friends.

I hope you enjoy a SNEAK PEAK of a few of the images from their great day. Once Louise and Iain have returned from Dublin and enjoyed their Christmas break I shall post more. For relatives and friends, Louise and Iain will send you an e-mail link to their private gallery so you can view all the images from their wedding at Jesmond Dene House Hotel

Surprise birthday party, that is. I have not yet had the opportunity to work on surprise birthday invitations, but thanks to working with a recent customer, I have two 5x7 inch designs to add to the website:

Surprise! Surprise!

Right now, designs like this are settled into the "Your personal events" section of my website; For everything that is not necessarily wedding related, Christmas related, or baby related. This section includes birthdays and Bat Mitsvahs, moving announcements and First Communion save the dates.
