Old-Fashioned Trolley or Traditional Limousine? Decisions decisions!
I'm trying to decide how to get our wedding party around (in style, of course!) during the three-hour gap between the ceremony and reception. The plan is to do some exploring in the Clear Lake and Galveston area, maybe hit up Kemah and take some portraits in front of the ferris wheel, maybe take a quick walk on the beach.
Even though our wedding party is relatively small, with their dates and assorted family members, it could easily get up to 20 people. That's too big for a normal limo! Especially considering my dress will take up three seats :)
Option #1: Two traditional limos
My maid of honor had the brilliant idea of having a photo scavenger hunt during the gap, which would be *so* fun with two limos. But, two limos is twice the drivers, who have to be paid twice as much.
Option #2: One ridiculously big limo
If there's one day you can ignore your carbon footprint, can't it be your wedding day? These still don't look roomy enough to be riding around in for three hours.
Option #3: Vintage car
There's nothing more romantic than riding off in a classic Rolls Royce, but usually there's just enough room for the bride and groom. What are our attendants going to do? Nope, this one's definitely out.
Option #4: Old Fashioned Trolley!!!!!!
Can you tell I'm excited about this one? There's a Houston-area company (with good reviews on WeddingWire!) that has refurbished, highway-legal trolleys. Not only do they look good on the outside, they have leather wrap-around seating, Sirius satellite radio, and a built-in bar! Oh, and don't forget the trolley brass bell. And they carry up to 20 people!
I especially like this option because it has meaning in the Galveston area. Galveston's public transportation is still trolley-based, but they have yet to get back up and running after being badly damaged during Hurricane Ike. A running trolley full of merry wedding-go'ers would look amazing going down the Strand!

This is a little video that I made a few weeks ago at the MBTA Green Line Boylston Station in Downtown Boston, Massachusetts. The streetcars behind the fence in this video are: PCC car 3295, built in 1951, and Boston Type 5 car 5734(leased from the Seashore Trolley Museum in Maine), built in 1924. This was the first subway station to open in Boston and it remains in largely original condition-configuration. Today, the MBTA Green Line uses two types of cars, which both are seen in this video. The Type 7, built in 1986-88 by Kinki-Sharyo of Osaka, Japan, and the Type 8, built in 1997-2008 by Breda of Italy. Thanks for watching, Please subscribe!
