Officiant for WEDDING: Outdoor Ceremony at Griffith Park in Los Angeles, CA

CONGRATULATIONS, Jessica and Matt!
This was a perfectly simple and lovely ceremony, tucked away in the MINERAL WELLS PICNIC AREA of Griffith Park. The bride and groom stood alone and exchanged vows in front of their friends and family, with the trees and grass and sky as their backdrop.

One of the beautiful things about this particular wedding was how the ceremony text itself was created.  Most all of the wedding words and ceremony sentiments were from the couple's letters to each other, over the years. They also incorporated a poem written by David Whyte, which was read by a friend.

After the ceremony, Hall & Oates' recently revived You Make My Dreams Come True was blasted through a portable powered speaker.

WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY REVIEW ON BOARD HISTORIC HMS TRINCOMALEE

Getting married onboard one of the oldest warships afloat is wedding venue you will never forget, but HMS Trincomalee, situated in a dock at Hartlepool Historic Quay on the north east coast of England, is one such venue.

She was built in 1817 and was restored to her full glory as part of the creation of Hartlepool Marina in the 1990's and is now a proud centrepiece for the town which has just hosted the 2010 Tall Ships races with over 1 million visitors.

I photographed Sue and Derek's small intimate wedding on board, and it was the first wedding in 14 years where the wedding breakfast was served in the captain's Cabin - because there were less than 20 people in the party.

The catering and food was fantastic, and Sue and Derek will never forget their special Valentine's Day wedding on board HMS Trincomalee.

The happy couple have wrote to me on their return from their honeymoon in Mexico, to thank me:

Susan and I engaged Dirk for our Valentine's Day wedding on board the historic frigate HMS Trincomalee and we were won over by both his professionalism and creativity - and especially his open and friendly demeanour. We really were overjoyed when he agreed to take on our small intimate wedding.

One look at his website and BLOG will tell you that he is no ordinary photographer and certainly not a 'standard' wedding photographer.

It's like they're reading my mind: Thank you RueLaLa!

Just the other day, I posted about my thoughts for outfits for my upcoming winter bridal showers. I whined a bit about how all the sweater dresses were cute, but only came in blah colors like black and charcoal. And then yesterday, BAM! Rue La La is selling the *exact* sweater dress I had in my post, but in a beautiful wine color AND over 60% off! Yayyyyyyyyy!!!!

Obviously, I had to buy it immediately! I'm a little concerned about the size, but hopefully it fits. Now I just have to decide what to wear with it. Maybe some black tights and patent leather pumps?

SUNDERLAND PRE-WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY PORTRAITS FOR SHELLEY AND STEVE

Last week I spent some time with Shelley and Steve whose wedding at Langley Castle is in December - one I'm very much looking forward to.

Roker beach at Sunderland has a has a great siginificance for Shelley as she often came here with her father when younger and now brings her own children here too, to walk along the beach and touch the pier before walking back - just as she did with her father all those years ago.

So, we spent an hour or so walking a beach on a crisp and cold day in November and we created some lovely images together. The day was overcast - perfect for some nice moody images!

They are so looking forward to their wedding at Langley Castle - and I'm very much looking forward to being a part of their great celebrations. I hope you enjoy a few of the photographs ... and I must also remember to post a photograph of their fantastic wedding invitation!

WEDDING AT WYNYARD HALL FOR NIKI AND STEVE

Wynyard Hall is a great wedding venue and one that has gone from a standing start to 180 weddings a year with little or no chance of booking a wedding on a Saturday or Sunday until 2013.

I met with Niki and Steve only 12 weeks before their wedding at Wynyard Hall after her cousin, Sue Wilkinson suggested me for her wedding photography. I had photographed Jo's wedding, Sue's daughter at Crathorne Hall.

Niki wanted a relaxed, happy day with family and friends and with lots of children and grand-children around it was certainly going to be a busy wedding!

Niki is an ebulent, happy go lucky lady who is thrilled to have finally met her soul-mate, while Steve is cool, calm and confident - and a man of few words, but as he said in the speeches, he has finally met his soul-mate too!

When I arrived mid-morning at Wynyard Hall it was all action right from the start, with mum's and sisters and friends and children and grandchildren all vying for attention from the hairdresser and two lovely ladies, Debbie and Rachel Cook from The Bridal Collection in Lancaster, not far from where Niki will be setting up her new home. They were helping the bride get ready along with all the bridesmaids and many of the children ... quite a job!

This gave me the opportunity for lots of nice relaxed images, amazingly relaxed considering the amount of people beavering away in two rooms!

Steve and his party arrived not long after - about half an hour earlier, but as he explained, when you have shelled out all the money for a wedding venue like Wynyard Hall - you want to be there enjoying it!

By now, the day was running late, about 30 minutes late, but finally EVERYONE was ready and as I expected, it all got a bit emotional when Steve saw the children all coming down the aisle followed by a resplendent Niki in her beautiful wedding dress.

Once the service was over, everyone headed into the Statue Gallery as it was pretty cold and gray and misty outside, and after an hour of congratulations, champagne and Pimms we headed to the Chapel for a quick confetti shot vefore gathering people together for ten minutes of informal family photographs.

Once that was over we headed for a great wedding breakfast, topped off with speeches and tears and Niki even stood up to make a speech as well - more tears as she thanked her family and friends and Steve for agreeing to be her husband. Awwwww.....

Another break allowed me to catch a few images of the evening guests arriving and a few photographs of a shy Steve with his beloved before we headed to the conservatory and the cutting of the cake and the first dance.

Steve surprised everyone, myself included as he ended up swinging Niki about the dance floor in a final flourish before the big kiss!!

Great day for Niki and Steve and their extended families and friends, and I hope my sneak peek photographs give you a flavour of the day.
